My HID look way Dim - Click HERE for Original Thread
CoolMomo
Hi, I drive 05 Murano SE with nav.
it comes with HID.

The thing is, My hid looks dimmer than non HID lights.
I can't even see light output.

do you think changing the aftermarket HID bulb would help this?
Kris
Noo idea if it would help.....however, I have owned 3 cars with HID's and all of them blow away non-HID's cars.....

What make you think your HID's are dim....
CoolMomo
i can't even see the road just in front unless i highbeam it.

i even controled the height of HID, still no luck.

i know it's not damaged cuz, when i looking at it, it looks bright.

it just doesnt' shine on the road.

I think the red flag I see in your post is the "aftermarket Hid bulb".

Especially if it has a decided blue tint I would change the bulb to OEM.......but even if it didn't look blue, I would still change the bulb to OEM because I know the OEMs are outstanding.

Shoot, if it is a money problem, just buy one and pull the car up by the barn door and shine the lights on it for comparison.

The OEMs are far better than halogen unless you have a problem with the ballasts......not likely both of them tho............

The 4300K HID bulbs (stock on all cars with HID) shed more usable light on the road than aftermarket bulbs with a higher color temperature (look more cool but has less lumens, or light output). It is unusual for a 2005 to have worn out HID bulbs already (they do get dimmer with age) - is it possible the bulbs are not stock?
Kris
I think Homer is on something........I missed the aftermarket part...

CoolMomo
are your bulbs aftermarket?
CoolMomo
my blubs are OEM.
and i bought my car brand new, so..
it's from nissan factory.

weird..

If its an 05, its probably still under warranty - you can have the dealer check it out and compare it with a new MO, both HID and halogen.
Kris
I agree with Eric, go to the dealer and have it checked. There must be something wrong. HID's are much better than any halogen I have seen.
Kris
I was thinking about this case. You saying that the high beam is working well and only low beam is the problem. HID works in a different way than normal halogen system. The bulb is on. If low beam is selected a shutter blocks partially the light beam and shapes it so it does not blind the oncoming traffic. There is a possibility that the shutter system is not working and blocking well too much light….worth looking into….
CoolMomo
i guess i have to bring it to the dealer than..
to check if my HID is under control with blockin system correctly,

compared to any other maker, our HID looks dimmer as well..
like bmws or even acuras...
maybe its only me.

Not true! A lot of cars (BMW and Audi for example) use a much bluer bulb (5-6K) Than the MO...
Our poster am be trying to compare his 4.3k with those: look brighter, but throw less light.
Also, I have noticed that the HID throw virtually no (visible) light on the road when it is wet.

I noticed it as well. What was helping me were the HIR's in fogs.....they were great!

I have full 4300K HID in my fogs; a lot more noticable light on the road in conjunction with low beam HID...

Really? I am surprised since going up to say, 6000K drops light output by about 1/3rd on typical HID capsules. Maybe they just use a different tint on their projector lenses to make it look more blue.
