OEM HU Controlls iPod w AAI-NIS2?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

This may have been addressed before ... but rather lengthy searches have not returned an answer ... my appologies if this is redundant to some of you.

I have an 04 Murano with standard (no Bose) radio, no SAT, and no nav. I recently got a PAC AAI-NIS2 unit and am curious if the OEM radio controlls will control the iPod when plugged in via the RCA cable. Do I need an adapter to accomplish this? I plan to use an RCA cable plugged into the dock connector instead of the headphone port for audio quality purposes. I'm not overly concerned with the unit charging the iPod (I assume that it will not charge it) because it is docked (and charging) all day in my office.

Just want to know if I can controll the iPod from the HU before I run the RCA cable into the console.

No. The NIS2 does not allow control inputs to be passed back to the source. There is a PAC solution that can let controls be passed from the steering wheel, but it is an in-depth installation and carries unique problems of its own.

I've seen several threads around for an iPod integration solution, but haven't bothered to read them as I'm an iRiver carrier. You should spend some time on those if you want the controls.

You need to read the apple.com ipod integration sticky at the top of this forum. Nothing that only uses RCA (minijack or red and white connectors) is going to control your device. It will only provide very clear audio signal when you hit the "SAT" button on your radio.

Thanks for the info ... I have spent significant time reading the ipod specific forums but found nothing about using only the NIS2 (without anyother adapters) and weather it will controll the ipod. This is the answer that I was expecting but wanted to ask just to make sure.

Thanks, again, for the info.

Have you tried www.nissanipod.com ? They have a list of harnesses available for the Murano.
