ok, i don't know if all this is normal, but here it is.. PLEASE let me know if your MO does the same. I have a 2006 SL AWD touring w/ Nav and VDC.

1. windshield fluid nozzle doesnt spray ?
- don't we have heated nozzles ?

2. the rear vent in the mid pillar, blows MUCH cooler air then the front ones.. Set at 90F, it blows (approx) 70F in the back MAX!
- is this normal ?

3. when climate control mode set to front windshield, along w/ the windshield blower, the driver side and pass side vents also blow out air !? (not the middle ones though)
- is that normal ?

please check w/ yours and let me know if i should take this bad boy IN!

THANKS IN ADVANCE, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Happy New Year!

Let's see...

1) No, the MO does not have heated washer nozzles. I assume you have checked the washer reservoir and it is full, right? The washer pump is water-cooled, and if it is run while the reservoir is empty you can damage the impeller. Does the rear washer work?

2) The path from the heater core to the rear pillar vents is much longer than the path from the heater to the front vents. The hot air destined for the pillar vents gives up some heat to the colder plenum.

3) Yes, that is normal. It helps to defog/defrost the side windows.

thanks for the quick reply..

1. maybe its just forzen, i mean we were down to 10F yesterday w/ 6" of snow.

2. yeah, but its TOOOO cold.. and it barely blows...

3. i thought the vents in the front speakers were made for the side windows ?

1) You should always use a washer fluid that is capable of handling sub-freezing temperatures otherwise you can damage the washer system. Never use straight water if sub-zero temperatures are predicted.

2) The rear pillar vents are marginal, at best. For them to be truly effective they would need supplemental fans.

3) You are right, I was wrong. When set in DEFROST mode the system is designed to deliver air from the vents on top of the dash only. See the attached diagram.

Hahahaha frozen window washer!

Instead of going to the dealer, you could just move here to sunny and warm SoCal and you won't have any of those problems.

Unless of course, if they melt during one of the fires.....or get clogged during the inevitable mud slides that follow the fires........or get cracked during the earthquakes...........
It ain't easy being a a windshield fluid nozzle in California....... :2:

Homer
(always concerned that my windshield nozzles may blow away during a hurricane......along with the rest of the car......... ;))

This past week in chicagoland has been very cold - your windshield fluid probably froze (or you ran out - is the washer fluid low light on?)

Never sat in the back seat when the heat was on, so I cannot comment on the rear vents.

On defog, the little dash top vents outboard of the speakers blow air to clear the side windows, but nothing should come out of the main vents.

SO HERE ARE SOME UPDATES!!!

1. windshield fluid nozzle doesnt spray ?
- yes, they were frozen from the cold weather.

2. the rear vent in the mid pillar, blows MUCH cooler air then the front ones.. Set at 90F, it blows (approx) 70F in the back MAX!
- This is normal. By the time the HOT air passes thru the pipe/ vent, it cools off. I also checked 3 MO at the dealer, this was confirmed.

3. when climate control mode set to front windshield, along w/ the windshield blower, the driver side and pass side vents also blow out air !? (not the middle ones though)
- The air supply is the same pipe/ tube. The side vents and the front speaker vents are 1 tube.. so thats normal. (also confirmed w/ the 3 MO at the dealer.)

so there you go, to all that were interested!!! :)
