Car starter in Murano- heater not working - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hello Everyone,

I have just had a Nordic Start installed in my Murano by FutureShop.

It seems to be working fine except that when you remote start the car the heater doesn't work?? If I put the key in the ignition and turn to run position the heater and fan come on. Is this a mistake by the installer or am I doing something wrong??

Thanks for all your help.

Did you give the MO time to warm-up and blow hot air? Have you tried to remote-start while sitting in the MO and then check if the HVAC controls are active?

The remote starter, when installed properly, should be transparent to the car. It should work as if you turned the key. It sounds like you need to return to FutureShop and have them retrace their steps.

The car doesn't blow any air. When I turn the key the fan starts to spool up.

Anyone have any ideas why this would happen.

The guys at future shop aren't the sharpest...... Any info I can go in with will no doubt help.

Thanks
Eric L.
If it is *really* cold, the fan will not blow air until the engine is warmed up, since the heat comes from the engine coolant. If you let the vehicle idle for say, 5 minutes, without turning the key, will hot air blow?

One way to test this would be to manually turn up the fan (not in auto mode), then turn off the vehicle. Then remote start it. If the fan is blowing, there is nothing wrong with your climate control system.

It definitely sounds like the guys at FutureShop did not correctly install the system. The first thing I would do is contact them, let them know you are not satisfied, and arrange to have them give it a second look. In the mean time you can contact the people at Nordic Start and see if they can offer any suggestions.

I would not let the guys at FutureShop off the hook. You paid them to do a job and apparently they have not done it to your satisfaction.

My car will blow air in any temperature. Just blows cold until engine warms up.

When using the starter the fan will not work at all evern after warming up for fifteen minutes. If I insert the key and turn to run postiion the fans then works.

I guess the installers screwed up.

I will keep you posted.

I spent a few years during college installing remote starters. It sounds to me as if the installer did not power up all the accessory and ignition wires. That is why when you turn the key, they all fire up. I would take the MO back and have them add another relay to power up those additional wires.

it really is installer's issue. i got mine installed from futureshop as well in Saskatoon, its a Viper though. i dont have any issues with it. the fan comes up whether i use key or remote. they have lifetime warranty on their installations so bug them until they resolve the issue but keep checking all other settings as well. i.e. when car gets started w/ remote, hold down the Unlock key on your Nissan keyfob and make sure the windows come down... etc
