Hi. I'm a newbie to this group. I'm leasing a 2004 that I plan to purchase in May. I'm moving to a new city, and I'm interested in getting a GPS device. I've looked at portables, but really prefer to install one that works with the current Murano dash display. Does anyone know how I would go about finding a system with the latest features (text-to-talk, point of interest, etc) that would use the 7-inch dash display?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Welcome to the forum.
Do you have the orange screen or the multi-color LCD panel?

| Thanks for the response. It's the orange screen, but I wouldn't be against an upgrade... |

jkament-
It is not technically possible to enable the existing orange screen to display graphics.
Replacing the orange screen is no simple matter either. It would be extremely costly and labor intensive to replace the orange dot-matrix screen with a NAV-capable LCD display. Only two or three members have attempted the conversion and the results look to be less than ideal.
I would opt for a dash or windshield-mounted GPS.

Thanks. I read a few posts from others. Sounds like a headache. I'll go with the portable.

Hey njjoe,
I think you need to retract your statement about
installing OEM nav results as being less than desirable.
My results in doing this were perfect in every way.

mmmmm I think Njjoe was referring to the fact that jkament has a monochrome display in his MO and therefore it is not possible (without gobs of cash and time).
I'll post my solution, I installed a Garmin hardwired it to just behind the tach.... a great location in my opinion. :4: |
