Frank Oresnik, of Catawba, WI., owns a special 1991 Chevy Silverado. What makes it so special? Other than the fact that he has replaced three radiators, two gas tanks, four trannys, and five water pumps? Well, as of two weeks ago he was 6,000 miles short of one million miles! That's right, 994,000 miles on a Detroit V-8.
The engine has never been overhauled and is running with the original timing chain. Frank changes the oil every 3,000 miles and uses Pennzoil 10w-30 oil exclusively.
That is pretty impressive by anyone's standards. Heck, even the transmissions fared well when you consider each one averaged 200,000 miles!
Let's see, all I need is another 974,408 miles and I am right up there with Frank. Let's hope my CVTs average 200,000 miles just like Frank's gearboxes.

| That's crazy! My 92 Honda accord wagon has 313,000 miles on the original engine and tranny. But I am far from that. |

WOW!
Back in 90's it was quite common in Australia that Ford Falcon, with 4.1l 6-cylinder engine lasted 300,000 miles before any work on the engine or tranny. But 1M it is an impressive number! By any standard...
I would not be worry about the VQ, my concerns are with CVT an dtransfer case in AWD Muranos... |

Meet Doug Bolt of Toledo OH. He has a 1997 Ford E-250 van. As of 1/31/08 he had 999,000 miles on this van, with the original engine and original transmission!
I drive a 1997 E-250 and it now has over 999,000 miles on the original motor and original transmission. Both have never been rebuilt. Many parts on my van are still original. I’ve never had the transmission pan off and have never replaced the trans filter.
He changes the oil "when it gets dark", once going 50,000 miles bewteen changes. (That makes me cringe). |

Not only is the milage on the car incredible; that's 58588+ miles driven per year on average!!WOW.
Hmmm; 17 years of salted winters; I don't know if our MO would last that long even IF the motor/tranny got us that far. It would look like Fred Flinstone's car:D |

The million mile van actually did go over the 1,000,000 mark last weekend. The web site has been updated.
It just amazes me, considering the engine and transmission have never come out of the vehicle and he changed oil "when it looked dark", one time going 50,000 miles between oil changes. |

This kind of reminds me of the 12 year old kid that shot some huge hog or something. It was on CNN and other news networks. Never heard another thing about it.
The problem I had was the picture made the hog look more like it was closer to the camera than the kid. it would have weighed in at around 10,000 lbs by the kid's size.
I think I will wait for Paul Harvey and the rest of the story. |
