2005 Murano Rear Wiper Install Guide - Click HERE for Original Thread

I wanted to start a thread on this because after searching tirelessly, I could not find one that had a step by step on how to replace the rear wiper blade. I saw information on replacing older models, but not ones with the newer style blade. Could anyone enlighten me?

I purchased the part from the Nissan dealer. It looks like I can slip the blade out pretty easily, but since I bought the whole arm, I'd like to install it. Any tips? Thanks!

I have a 2006, which should have the same design you are referring to. This is how I changed the rear wiper blade about 3 months ago:

1. Remove the cover over the central nut on the wiper arm, it's has to small plastic wings that clip it over the metal bracket. The plastic seems relatively strong, but be delicate when removing it, break this cover and you get to go to the dealer for a replacement. Remove the central nut. Note the location of the wiper arm prior to proceeding.

2. Pull entire wiper arm assembly off the actuator spline. It should remove with a little resistance, remember there is a spring meant to hold the wiper arm down on the glass. Be fairly gentle here, you don't want to break anything.

3. Once you get the entire arm off you will see that basically you twist the wiper blade past 100 degrees rotation off the wiper arm assembly. That's not a good description, but it will become readily apparent how to remove the wiper blade.

4. Reverse the assembly to put the wiper blade onto the wiper arm assembly.

5. BE VERY CAREFUL putting the assembly back onto the actuator spline. Put the entire assembly back onto the actuator spline, orient the wiper assembly as noted in step 1. It will be a bit more difficult to replace the wiper assembly as you will be fighting the resistance of the tensioning spring.

6. Tighten nut being careful not to overtighten, replace plastic cap - listen for a couple of clicks.

If everything was done correctly you should have a nice rear view wiper. Double check your work before driving, you wouldn't want to lose the wiper because the central spline nut is loose.
