Using NAV/Bluetooth while driving - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hello: I am new to the forum. I have been looking into buying a new car. I like the Murano and was considering purchasing a 2009 with Nav. Can the nav and the bluetooth be used while driving? I was also looking at the Lexus RX350 and you must be stopped when trying to enter in points of interests and dialing with the bluetooth phone. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

When my wife and I bought our new, 2007 SL, we did not get the $2,000 in-car NAV system, opting instead for a Garmin Nuvi 660 and it and its BT capability work flawlessly. Both of our cell phones connect every time and work hands-free just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I also have a Garmin, Nuvi 350. Works very well. I just thought that since I would possibly buy a new Murano I would get the factory nav. I just wasn't sure if Nissan did what Lexus was doing with their nav by limiting the use of certain features while the vehicle was in motion. I know it probably is a legality issue but I can't imagine having to pull off the road just to find the nearest gas station or other stopping point.

I think the '09 uses a Gyro on the Nav so it is really hard to bypass. Correct me if I am wrong. Some guys with the '08 Armada are trying to do this on the new Navigation system, but haven't succeeded yet. The closest they got was bending the e-brake metal clip to think it was pushed but it really wasn't. But then they found out that it bypassed it after it went over 12 mph. So another dead end. It was possible on the 04-07 Nav to type and move by splicing the cable and putting a in-line switch. But as far as I know it can't be done right now.

this is my wifes car, so I might not have ALL the information, BUT, she CAN call a number that is in the address book while the car is moving. Using the steering wheel controls, or the touch pad. Also, The book indicates that you can use the voice recognition to do this too, but we haven't got that far yet.
She has it paired with her Verizon "Strawberry chocolate"..??

Oops.
This is for the Bluetooth phone part.
I'm not sure on the NAV. I think you can get it to go to a "SAVED" location, but I'm not sure on the voice programming part. Using the touch screen to program a route only works while stopped.
