First, I apologize is this has been asked before, but i just found this wesbite...
My problem: I have an 04 Murano and my center console buttons are not working. Some of them work. Some of them don't. I can't zoom-in on the navigation, but I can zoom out (and thanks to the idiot service person at the dealership, i am currently zoomed all the way out so i can see all of America). Stereo pre-set buttons 2, 3, 5 & 6 work, but 1 & 4 don't. Other various buttons don't work properly. My CD player doesn't play correctly. The speakers cut in and out. I went on another forum board and read that there may be a problem with the circuit board located behind the center console/radio, and i'd have to go in and re-sauder some parts.... but that was only for the radio problem, not the button problem, which i'm assuming has to be related since everything went out at the same time. AND after two hours of sitting at the Nissan dealership, they said they couldn't find the problem, but it could cost up to $1000 to fix... but they DIDN'T know the problem. What the heck? Then why give me a quote?
Anyone have these same "button" and "CD" problems? It's driving me nuts that i can't zoom in on the map!
Thanks in advance!

They are quoting as a WAG. (Wild assed guess). They intend to replace disc drives and/or circuit boards.
Here's something you can try.
Get a spray can of FD electrical contact cleaner (Any kind will do but I prefer FD) and a nozzle.
Put the nozzle on the can and spray around a button. Your mission is to get some of the spray behind the button and into the actual switch. Then enable the switch 30 or 40 times. Do this with the power off, it's quieter that way.

Hey, that's cool stuff! I can think of many applications where this could come in handy.
I don't have the same center console button problems you do, but I do have intermittent problems with my steering wheel radio controls (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't) that, of course, Nissan can't repro so they won't fix. I'll try a bit of this stuff and see if it helps. |
