Hey everybody, I have a question to get some opinions.
I have an 03 SL and the front passenger side wheel area is making noise when the car is moving, when braking and when not braking. I have about 50,000 miles on it and the brakes are the originals. Could it be my brakes or would it be something else?
Another question, I purchased the exteneded warranty, and if the problem is something that would be under warranty do i have to get the work done at a Nissan Dealership? Or can any repair shop send in the warranty stuff? |

My first guess would be a bad wheel bearing, followed by the CV joint, and then the brakes.
I don't know enough about extended warranties to weigh in on your other question.

| Thanks for the reply, do you think that I can still drive with it making that noise, the closest dealership is 35 miles away, but I do have non nissan repair shops in town? |

That is impossible to answer with any degree of certainty. It all depends on what is wrong, what component is damaged, and what is the extent of the damage.
If the noise is from a worn CV joint or front wheel bearing, then you should be able to drive the 35 miles to the dealership.
Does your extended warranty cover the cost of towing to the nearest dealership? If so, then there is your answer. However, if it is simply worn brakes then the towing and repair costs will not be covered.

| My money is on wheel bearing. Can you drive? It depends on severity of the problem. Warranty - I would say call Nissan and ask. Tell them you do not feel safe and let them make the decision. And document it. Take the name of the person from Nissan who advised you. Just in case. |
