Australian MO fog lamps? - Click HERE for Original Thread
Downunder
G'day guys. .

I have just registered to this forum, and wanted to get some advice. I have just bought a black 2007build MO. She has everything, sat/nav, heated seats, leather and the bose audio. However, the Australian varient does not have Fog lamps, instead of the lamps it has black plastic vent/covers. I was quite disappointed when i asked the dealer.

Does anyone know why?

And is it possible to install factory or after market lamps in my vehicle?

Where could i purchase this from?

Thanks guys:)

Downunder-

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new MO.

Several forum members who purchased US-spec "S" models have successfully added fog lamps to their MOs. These links should get you going in the right direction:

S model upgrades

Murano S fog lamps

Good luck.

Dear njjoe,

Thanks for your prompt reply and links to help me with my query.

However, i have been informed that the Australian car has a remodelled front bumper for the air intake?

Im quite confused. .

Any auusies here that have encountered this issue?

I thought the cars were the same, but apparently they're slightly different..maybe compliance standards?

This is the Australian model:

Except for the fact that the steering wheel is in the wrong place, it sure looks the same to me!

Downunder,

Your front bumper may be different, but I seriously doubt it is because the engine air intake is integrated into it.

Take a look underneath the bumper and see if there is anything behind the covers that would prevent you from installing fog lights in the openings.

lol. Yes we do drive on the wrong side of the road. .

ok no worries. I pick up the car this friday so when i have a first hand inspection i'll let you know, might post a photo too.
I was just keen to get the foggies so it would all be ready when the car arrives.

thanks again

Dear Quog,

Your comment was quite helpful, as i have obviously been facing the same problem. You're right, as the Australian models have the headlight washers which would obstruct fitting the fog lights.

Its encouraging to see that you have managed to fit yours in.

Im not keen on bending anything, but how has everything worked for you and how long did it take to install?

What OEM fog lights bulbs did you use?

Do you have any photos, particularly of the switch.

got nissan oem's via ebay was an old new stock clearance

Took about 3-4? hours all up to put in (don't know can't really remember all up - it was 2 years ago) - but was worth it no matter how long it took.

Remote switch - new one is from ebay also, if you want search on 12v remote or 12v remote control - I have a remote that is for PC's etc - I think its got a name like molex or someting like that.

I would suggest that after you pick it up, just pull out the plastic cover, passanger side (left side or drivers side in 99% of countries) -or hey do what I did and do it on a car at the caryard first afterhours.

If you really want to get an idea - pull off the front left side inner wheel arch cover and have a look at the rear of the foglight.

you will see the black under part of the washer bracket behind the plastic cover, that is what was pushed back to make space for the foglight.

The most difficult thing was undoing the right side bolt connecting the washer holder - it is a tight fit around the windscreen washer bottle like the other threads linked say, but just keep trying. The foglight is just held in tight finger tight so that I can change the globes easy.

I tossed away the HB4(?) globes and put in HB3(?)30+ or vice versa to get more light.

Ekaxel,

hm, to think about it, the steering wheel on Australian Murano is on the RIGHT side...isn't.......so it it is in the RIGHT place...;)

PS. Irland is thinking about switching the steering wheels as well......apparently too many imigrants and turists causing too many accidents....thay are used to driving on the.......RIGHT side of the road.....
