Personally, I wouldn't go to the dealer for a muffler.
My friend manages a Midas muffler. His shop has arrangements with several car dealers for the exhaust work.... The customers have no idea that Midas fixed their car.
Can the crack be welded? I had a small rip in a pipe seam once, the kid welded it shut for $20. |

While the dealer is sure to carry OEM mufflers, their expertise is no where near that of a muffler shop.
I had the same type of problem with my Jeep. The joint between the pipe and muffler failed. I took it to a local Meineke shop (Brick, NJ) and they welded it up before I had a chance to say anything. He did not even want to charge me for the repair. I handed both the manager and tech a ten-spot. If I had gone to the Jeep dealer I am sure they would have insisted that I replace the pipe and muffler, and it would have cost several hundred dollars.

| If the actual muffler is not shot; I would agree with the others here and have it repaired. If not; there are some that like the sounds of the Flowmaster muffler. |
