Question on Factory NAV - Click HERE for Original Thread
hfelknor
I don't have it but am curious.

When you are listening to the radio and the NAV speaks, does it mute the radio and then resume the radio after the instruction?

Can you change voices on the nAV to say a male/female. accents

Do you have POIs?
Can they be changed/be added to?

Any other "features" that you think are cool?

Thanks.

Mute - A little but not really - it kind of speaks over the radio a bit but you can hear it in the background. I have had some trouble getting it right.

Voice is female - only

Yes it has POI, ATMs, Gas stations and other stuff like restaurants. Only as good as the database on the disk when bought or updated so it is a bit out of date now on mine.

One cool thing is you can turn on Tracking and it keeps a record of where the vehicle has been - even if turned off and restarted. Good for tracking the kids or ??

;)

Thanks Craig.
I am a bit surprised at the "partial muting".
My only experience with Factory Navs iup to now s with other peoples's Lexus and BMW and I am "pretty sure" they totally mute the radio.
But then, my Cadillac does not.....

The Tracking IS .

Where is the tracking feature? I can't seem to find it on the menus.

Two things - first, Homer, I was mistaken about the partial muting of the ladies voice - it completely mutes the radio. I guess I have gotten used to it and didn't notice so much. Sorry about that.

As for the Tracking feature, you need to turn off "short menus" (so you get the long menus) and then go to the Navigation menu - scroll down past the first screen that is offered (it goes down further than you think) and where you see the word Tracking, turn it on - it will leave little circles on the routes you travel. It can get a bit cluttered after a while so you may only want to use this for special purposes - like where your teenager has been in the evening. Bwahahaha.

:D
