Question on my PAC-OEM2 and this re-Q5 processor unit.

I have a pac-oem2 to convert my 04' non-bose HU to RCA outputs to connect to my aftermarket amps.
Is the re-Q5 the same as a pac-oem2 but with signal processing? or is it just a signal processing unit?
Kind of sick of my pac-oem2 and want to find something that is more than a hi-level to rca level convert. and i've been reading about the re-Q5 in this forum and it seems like it can help with enhancing my music & act as a HU to rca converter. I don't need many boxes behind my HU or near it.

Please educate me on this.

Thank You.

btw, i used the Scosche NN03B harness to connect the wirings on the pac-oem to my HU so diect plugin. Im hoping the re-Q5 can be like that and connect into my HU. a 2 in 1 is my dream.
haha

virux;
The re-q unit is quite different from the PAC unit. It's a volume sensing unit and restores bass signals as volume is increased,
There's more info on this link: http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/...&threadid=10679
You can remove your PAC and RCA lines from behind the HU and reconnect it back to OEM. The re-q should be mounted where it's accessable for signal adjustments and also close to the amp so it can run short RCA's. To connect the re-q to your sound system only requires you to connect the signal wires of the re-q to existing speaker wires; power source; ground and a turn-on signal. It does a great job of signal processing and provides RCA outs to your amp.

ah i see.. i would like to add-on a sound processing unit as well. but how will I connect it with the pac-oem2? and i definitely won't be able to place the re-q near the amps where the amps are in the trunk and the pac-oem is behind the HU.

BTW is there something that's better than the PAC-OEM2?

What kind of a processing unit are you looking at hooking up? Maybe I'm not understanding what you are trying to acheive.
My re-q is in the trunk with my amps; got rid of the PAC that I had before the re-q.

Oh so you basically replaced the pac-OEM2 with the re-q? Am I understanding this correctly? if I am, then that is exactly what i want to do. what are you running? aftermarket amps or factory bose? my unit is non-bose and i've completely run new speaker wires to my speakers to amp. I only use my pac oem-2 to connect to the HU to convert signals into rca's to run to my amps rca inputs.

Bingo!
I used have a PAC unit mounted to the back of the HU. I've removed that and have installed the re-q in the trunk picking up speaker signals from the Bose amp to the re-q. I then run 3-ft. RCA's to my two MTX amps. I have 2 MTX 4-chl amps in the back. 1 powers my rear doors and a 10" sub. 1 powers my front doors and a pair of 4" coax's in my dash. I have 2 re-q units; since they didn't have the 5 chl re-q that they have now-one for each amp. My front door speakers are MB-Quartz 6.5" components; rear doors are Hertz 6.5" components; the dash speakers are 4" Hertz coax and the 10" sub is an Energy sub.
If you do install the re-q's; you can eliminate your PAC unit and just run speaker wires from your HU back to your re-q mounted in the trunk. Then from the re-q run your RCA's (at whatever length you need) to your amps. The other link shows the set up you need for wiring. Other wiring you will need for the re-q is a power line; ground and an amp turn-on line(power). It's really a fine unit and has worked well for my setup.

Here's the wire harness that plugs into one end of the re-q. This is where all your speaker wire signals; power line; ground and amp turn-on signals go into the re-q. The other end for the re-q is the output connectors for your RCA's.

This is great! a 2-in-1 product as i suspected.

But its fine if i leave the re-q in the back of the HU after i fine tune it or just leave it as factory setting right?
I've just ordered 16.5' streetwires zn7 rca's lol. I don't want to pull so many lengthy wires which will make me confused haha (i just don't want to buy so many different color of lines to match).
If i can't I can always attach it on the side of where my left foot rests.

I use the scosche harness to to connect my pac. is there a diagram for the re-q5?

If you are not too sure about it; then that's a good idea. BTW-with the re-q in the trunk; you could have saved yourself some $$ by not needing 16+' of RCA. Speaker wires tagged with notes-much cheaper. Not to mention the RCA's may pick up engine noise if ran next to amp's power line from battery.
Anyhow; if you need more info; here is my contact for the Re-q:

virux
