| Murano, 81k miles, best vehicle ever - Click HERE for Original Thread |

Wanted to relate my Murano experience. I bought my '05 in December '04. Simply put, it's the best, most dependable, most fun, most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned. Besides looks, one thing I really like about this SUV over others is the power pedals and how far the seats go back so I can be comfortable with lower back problems. Found the Pilot and several others I drove to not allow the seat to go back far so they could have that useless 3rd row seat - smart move Nissan.
I have 81k miles on it and have done nothing except regular oil changes and tire rotation. In fact, I'm still running on the original tires.
Problems: At less than 3k miles a strut went bad. The outlets don't work - probably just a fuse - haven't checked yet. 3 recall notices - an inconvenience. A humming noise when I go slow - can only be heard on the outside or with the window down - similar to the sound the seat makes when it adjusts itself. And now am having trouble getting it to kick over - similar to a car with a carburator - not the battery clicking thing - this is of course reasonable at this mileage.
Now I'm debating whether to trade for an '09. I need new tires which will be over 1k and need to do the 60k or 90 service to change the fluids, etc. I'm thinking the money spent there could be put on the '09. But on the other hand, I'm close to paying it off and it would be nice not to have payments. I've always felt that a good car is a good car. I had a 1996 Toyota Avalon that I did all the "required" maintenance on and always had problems with the car regardless. This Murano is a good car. The '09 which I've only seen in pictures looks to have some sexy side curves but then they all including mine have that nice a$$.
Any opinions on whether to trade?
In any case though, my experience with the Murano has been great. Absolutely the finest vehicle I've ever owned. :cool: |

Yikes, if this is the BEST car you've ever had, you must have previously had mostly or possibly ALL US made cars.
We bought our 04 Mo a couple months before you got yours, and it has just under 50K miles with zero problems (except the recalls, of course). I sure hope the problems you've had don't crop up here in the next 30 K miles!
(my Maxima is still going strong at 13 1/2 years old and 193K) |

Just had a new set of tires put on at the dealership at roughly 70k. They were running a buy 3 get the 4th for $1 deal. Cost me about $650 with the alignment. Had to bring it in for a seal leak that was still covered under warranty, so figured I'd get the tires done too. They wouldn't have passed the inspection in September as they were getting pretty worn. |

| Actually nafddur, a Toyota Avalon ranks up there as one of the worst cars I've ever had including quality and lousy treatment by the company/dealers. They could have had more of my business but instead it went to Nissan, happily. :) |

MichaelMurano;
You are correct in saying that a good car is a good car! I have an '03 with about the same milage and it too has been a "good car".
It is paid for and that too feels great!;)
I realize that the potential of owning a new '09 model is an appealing thought with the history you have with your vehicle; however that history is only with the one you have. A good car is a good car.
I will continue to keep driving my MO until IT tells me what to do. Now; that's a good car:D |
