Buying a Used Murano - Click HERE for Original Thread

I'm looking to buy a used Nissan Murano (probabaly a 2003 or 2004). I'm currently looking at dealerships and Carmax. Are there any specific things I should look for on a used Murano that can signify whether the car is in good shape? I've been looking at Murano's for a while, so any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

The most expensive repair on an out-of-warranty MO is replacement of the CVT, followed by the transfer case (AWD only). If you are considering buying a used MO I suggest you take a look under the car for signs of oil leakage. Specifically, I would look for signs of oil where the front half-shafts connect to the transmission. If leakage is evident I would walk away.

That sounds like good advice. Thanks. Replacing the CVT is probably my biggest concern. I will definitely be purchasing any extended warranties that I can find.

Well guys. I've wanted a Murano for a while now, but a better offer came my way. I just bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander SE for $22K. It's loaded with 18 inch wheels, sunroof, 650 watt Rockford Fosgate Stereo w/subwoofer, Sirius Satellite radio. Best of all it comes with a 100K mi, 10 year powertrain warranty, 60K bumper-to-bumper, 5 year roadside assistance, and free oil changes for life. I couldn't get a Murano with those features and warranties for anywhere near what I paid, especially a new Murano :( .

I really got some good info about the Murano on this website. I still love the Murano's, just can't afford one. Thanks for everyone's help.
