Front LCD - Video from iPod - Click HERE for Original Thread

I can now confirm that you indeed *can* play videos on the front LCD on non-Entertainment equipped vehicles (via AUX).

I hooked up my iPod with no problems, once I remembered that you have to apply the parking brake. Without the parking brake, even with the car in Park and the engine not running, you will hear the audio, but get a message saying "Video will resume once the car is parked" (something along those lines).

Yes, that seems to be the case.
The only input that has any Video settings is AUX.

I simply wanted to confirm, out of curiosity, that any analog video signal can be viewed on the front LCD screen, as there have been discussions and disagreements on the issue elsewhere. I wanted to know for sure, for myself.
iPod was easier to hook up than, say, a DVD player or a game console. Personally, I doubt I will ever use the AUX Video connector.

The actual picture quality is better than it looks in the pics, but it does not make you jump up and down.

Cool, that looks great, and by the way, My 09 LE is same color as yours, I wonder which color is the most popular one for 09 murano.. I wish the platinum graphite was little bit darker..that will be even better.

This is awesome news, even if I don't have an iPod!

That's awesome. Thanks fitc. I tried my Zune when I first got my Murano and got the same message about playback being resumed when the vehicle was stopped. The vehicle was stopped and in park when that message was displayed

I never thought to try the parking break :)

If anybody finds info on bypassing the parking brake please let us know.

Hi all!
I just have a question.
What is the purpose of allowing us to see videos in the screen if we MUST have the parking brake applied? It will be terrific to see the video while driving, to allow passengers to watch a DVD or videos from your ipod

So please, if any body find the way to by-pass this share the info with us... I tried for about 2 hours last weekend and I couldn't.

thanks...

It is both illegal and extremely dangerous to be distracted with a video while driving. Please, if you don't care about your life, care about ours!

Sir
You are correct. If you read again my post, I wrote:

I did it mean it for the driver!

However, it will be nice to allow us at least see the content of an Ipod screen, in order to see the name of the songs and artist name... That's it...

I am glad you do not plan to watch while driving! I agree for the Ipod thing. I have my playlist displayed as well. I have to say from personal experience that even that is very distracting. For the Video, the reason they disable it while the vehicle is in motion is because the law prohibits any video displays in view of the driver, whether or not he/she is watching it. The manufacturer simply does not want any liability in that regard. Same is true for adjusting Navigation settings while car is in motion.

I think just about every state has a law that says the screen cant be visible to the driver. Even if its for your passengers, if you can see it, you might have problems.
