I have a "05" MO and like one of the eariler posts I have aquired some road damage to my Condenser. Small pin hole on the driver side. When looking for a replacement I have found there are two replacement types- PARALLEL FLOW TYPE P40327P and.... non parallel flow type P40327. How do you tell what type you have? I have the 2 wheel drive SE model 3.5L engine. Parallel is just over $300 and the "regular" one is about $150.
How do you tell? |

Welcome to the forum.
There are two main types of automotive condensers - 1) tube and fin, and 2) parallel flow.
Tube and fin condensers can be identified by the tube that snakes back and forth through the condenser. If you look at the ends you can see the tubing making numerous 180-degree bends.
A parallel-flow condenser looks more like a horizontal-flow radiator. There are two tube-like reservoirs, one on either side of the condenser. The refrigerant makes a single pass from one reservoir to the other.
Where are you buying the replacement condenser? I would hope that anyone selling a model-specific condenser would know what type of unit is used in the MO.
I'll take a look in the morning and let you know what the 2005's have. I suspect it is the more-efficient parallel-flow unit.

After you have replaced your A/C condenser you may want to install a grill to protect it from getting damage again. Check out this website www.cloud-rider.com. |

As promised, I took a look at my 2005 MO and it appears to be the parallel-flow type.

Thanks for the help on this. I was hoping for the cheaper of the two but...just my luck! It the more expensive one.
Thanks for your help! I will check out the grill protector too. |
