factory tires - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hello everyone. My first post here on the murano forums. I just got my baby this sunday... I love it(my wallet doesnt though)... i especially like the science fiction/futuristic look to it for some reason....

its a platinum graphite SL AWD with leather and moonroof and premium package....

I have a quick question that may seem kind of stupid but for some reason my dad insist that i find out.....

what kinds of tires come with the different murano trims?

Welcome to the forum.

The S and SL models come with 235/65-18 tires. The LE's have the larger-diameter 235/55-20 tires.

also, what brand/model tires?
benhui86
ok i found it... bridgestone dueler H/T....

my dad keeps thinking the dealer swaped out the original tires bc they didnt look like new tires to him..... he said the little rubber studs that are typical on new tires are gone... maybe hes just being paranoid....

I can only speak for the LE. It has TOYO tires.

benhui86-

bridgestone dueler H/T???

The LE has Toyo Proxes and the S and SL are shod with Goodyear Eagle LS.

What tires came on your MO?

lol wtf.... i looked at car show pix of 09 SL AWD and they had on bridgestone duelers.....

and mine has bridgestone duelers.....

benhui86-

Maybe I am wrong, but the other day I parked next to a 2009 SL and was checking out the wheels when I noticed the Goodyear Eagle LS. I just assumed they were standard equipment.

Hopefully one of the 2009 SL owners can chime in and let us know what his MO is riding on.

Bridgestone Duelers on mine!
Homer
Duelers on mine as well.

That's very interesting. I wonder why Nissan made the switch from the Eagle LS to the Duelers? Was it supply problems or price?

My guess is that Bridgestone gave them a cheaper price! Also, Bridgestone is a Japanese company I believe (despite the name) so perhaps it can be sourced locally where they build the Muranos.
benhui86
my guess is some very rich person didnt like bridgestone duelers so he bought goodyear eagles to replace them just because...... or he got a big flat that couldnt be patched so he replaced all four at same time....

I was at the dealer today dropping off my Mo for the Air Bag Module replacement (don't get me started!). I took a close look at all the tires on the 09 Mos on the lot and noticed the following:

LE 20" is Toyo Proxie (1 in lot)
SL is Bridgestone Dueler (3 in lot)
S is GY Eagle LS (1 in lot)

So I guess the "cheaper" GYs are on the S model because it is a "cheaper" model.

Can S model owners confirm?

That is very interesting. It does give you the impression that Nissan believes the Dueler is a better tire. Or maybe the cheaper Duelers enable the more-expensive-to-build SL to meet a certain price point.

So, had fun at the dealer today?? ;)

For the record. The OEM tires in cars (bridgestone used to be a prime example) are not necessarily the same as the tires you buy in your local tire store. Check very cerefully the UTOQ ratings on the sidewall. Many Japanese tires as OEM had very low treadwear ratings compared with the aftermarket version of the same tire. I don't know if it is still true today, but it was that way in the past...
OEM tires are acquired by auto manufacturers from the lowest bidder that meets the spec. When you are buying millions of tires, it is a completely different world from retail

Haaa! Funny! It wasn't that bad. They even called me up to remind me that my oil change was coming up and asked if I wanted to do that at the same time.

The bad, once again they recommended that I replace my belts which I declined. I almost feel as if they are setting me up for something.

Overall, I ended up getting a spanking new steering wheel airbag with a shiny new Nissan emblem.

Does anyone know what's the maximum width of tire we can put on our 20" wheel? right now it's 235, I'm wondering if 255 will work on it.

Do a forum search for "255" and you will get your answer. There are several threads referencing the 255 tire.

I have the 09 LE AWD, bought mine in Everett, Washington (just in case location affects factory-installed tire options). I have the Toyo Proxes mounted on the (yah-yaw!) 20" rims.
