| What is the "S" mode used for on the gear selector? The manual says it is for engine braking. Can this gear be safely used for faster acceleration and spirited driving? The rpm goes to about 4000 in this position. Is there a suggeted speed limit for this mode? |

TeddyS-
Welcome to the forum.
If you ask some of the members they will tell you that the "S" stands for "seriously fun". It definitely allows for some spirited driving.
The "S" setting will keep the CVT in a relatively lower gear ratio (as compared to "D") for a given vehicle speed.
There is no need to worry about over-revving the engine. The VQ/CVT computer will adjust the ratio to prevent over-revving.

| Yep, S can be used for more responsive acceleration. You'll wreck your fuel economy though, but then thats rarely compatible with acceleration. :D |
