Replacement side window glass major problem - Click HERE for Original Thread
jbb3y
39 days later, I have finally gotten the call that my car is done, but despite my arguing with the insurance guy they have replaced the front passenger side glass with PPG. I know that this is in a legal grey area in VA as to what is legitimate replacement, but this glass has the polarization reversed. Put on blue coated polarized lenses and you just see grey vertical steaks, which is a safety hazard to say the least. What is difference is cost between oem and this crap? It can't be enough to warrant possible legal action; don't use travelers btw. This new stuff is now apparently subject to testing, and will fail the test for allowable tint (slightly darker, too opaque, and not subject to federal dot regulatory override). Will this crap kill my resale, and why is there an insurance co that returns calls and is professional. The damn appraiser has given me a wrong number, and somehow only calls when I can't answer/phone is off. I'll try to get pictures later, but this has gotten to the point that I am going to have to take these people to court. I hate having to subpoena people in the appraisal department to get phone calls returned, but it seems like that's what it is going to take. I guess that most people are clueless, or put up with this crap?

If you are having trouble contacting your insurance appraiser, why not just contact your agent or someone else further up the chain of command? Look on their website and I am sure you will be able to locate the phone numbers for the regional and national offices.

what worked for me was a letter to the insurance commissioner for my state.
Man, they pampered me after that.

you could also look for a "used" replacement window at a jyard or something. that way itll be oem quality. not sure what window youre talking about but if its a door window they should be easy to replace..
