i recently bought a 2004 murano and was reading up on stuff here...so i was wondering should i get the flowmaster 80 series muffler or the gibson exhaust system...is there any major sound or performance difference between the two...im looking for a nice sound and decent performance increase...

Well, I got the stainless steel Gibson and like it. It has 3" angled tips and somewhat polished muffler. It adds a mild rumble on idle and is somewhat loud on acceleration. On WOT its pretty loud, but I think part of that is from my popcharger intake. Here's a couple pictures.

As far as power its hard to say but I think it adds a little, and gas mileage seems to not be affected.

If you want to spend some money japanparts.com sells a Nismo and Impul exhaust and Bulletproof auto sells a couple Japanese brands, but it'll cost you over $1000 for any of those.

I can't compare it to a Flowmaster cuz I haven't heard one, but there are some video clips on you tube.

I will say I like mine better than the quiet stock system. I may look into replacing the front muffler, but since my wife drives it, it can't be too loud.

Today Autoanything.com's website says $276 for the aluminized one and $423 for the stainless steel one, with free shipping. Californian's pay sales tax.

I don't have the info with me but I think when I got mine in November, 2007 I paid around $380.

Also, today only you can take an extra 10% off the price on their website.

Hope this helps.

You can e-mail AutoAnything or Gibson and ask. I'm not sure.

To me, it appears to be the same underneath in the muffler area.

Adds a mild rumble?? Yes, but what difference does it make if I removed my muffler?? It also makes a oud noise.. They say it is called scab
