I have 05 SE and I am planning to change the HID bulbs.

I know it's D2S but is it Bi Xenon?
I don't really know what D2S stands for..

What kind of HID bulb should i get?

i need some help.. thanks

I have an 05 SL and I just replaced both headlights and fog lights with HID. The headlights are Bi-Xeon 9007 and fogs are 9006.

I got the 10000k and they look great. will post a photo. easy to install. feel free to pm me if you need anything.

here is the website that i got the lights from www.xenithxenons.com
:)

Do you have the stock HID's? If so, i have a set of 10,000k replacement bulbs for sale. They are D2S. And no, the MO does not use a Bi-Xenon bulb. PM me if your interested.

Bi-xenon refers to the system, not the bulb itself.

The following is from wikicars.org:

"Bi-Xenon Headlights refers to HID (High Intensity Discharge) Xenon headlights that offer both low (dipped) and high (main) beam lighting from a dual headlight system (as opposed to a quad headlight system).

A bi-xenon system eliminates the need for a separate halogen high beam bulb/lense by either moving the xenon bulb within the lense or by moving a shield up or down in front of the bulb (depending on the reflector design) to allow light to escape from the lense in a different pattern.

A bi-xenon system typically features dynamic headlight leveling and on some vehicles direction adjustability"

Sorry Scorpious but you have standard halogen headlights with a blue tip fillament. They are whiter but than stock OEM bulbs but I found they they were dimmer.

Info from your listed site

10K are illegal, will... so are hid kits on standard Halogen housings, they scatter too much light.

Yes, factory is a D2S bi

Thanks guys,

and bigjohn, thanks for the offer, but i am not looking at blue look HID bulb since i am more of looking for an output.

I am thinking of getting a Philips 5000K pair of D2S bulb.

i had great experience with Philips HID so...

wish me luck!

Actually Scorpious's kit listed above is actually HID - its one those HID conversion kits where the D2S bult is retrofit into a standard halogen capsule so the connectors for the 9007 bulbs can be used. These kits are poorly suited for reflector headlights (like the ones on halogen 1st gen Muranos) as the D2S bulb does not have a glare shield like the D2R bulbs do. But it is a real HID bulb. 10000K is very blue/purple and probably has half the lumen output of standard 4300K HIDs (looks cool but probably makes less usable light than halogen bulbs).

Scorpious' kit are not bixenon though, since the halogen Muranos use a dual filament bulb for highbeams, and HID bulbs obviously do not have dual filaments (or even a filament at all) - on many of these conversion systems, flicking to high beam will actually turn off the light! Thus, for vehicles without a dedicated high beam bulb, these HID conversion kits essentially eliminate the high beam.

Stock HIDs on the Murano are "bi-xenon" due to the fact that a shutter is used to mask the output of the bulb in low beam by setting a height cutoff for the light. When you flick on highbeam, the shutter opens and the full output of the bulb (which always shines at the same brightness and power - 35W) is then available. Some other cars don't have this shutter, and use a separate halogen bulb for the high beam. D2S and D2R refer to the whether the bulb comes with a strip over the capsule which functions as a glare shield. D2R are meant for reflector style headlights, and D2S are used in projector beam systems (or "camera lens headlights" like in factory HID Muranos).

Those are good bulbs, although I think the stock 4300K bulbs actually produce the most usable light output. On an older Murano though, replacing the HID bulbs should improve light outside since HID bulbs do get dimmer over time. My 5 year old MO's HIDs are noticeably dimmer than when new, but they are still way brighter than halogens.
