Bose CD Player Smoking Then Dead - Click HERE for Original Thread

So, I've noticed a clicking and skipping in the last year with my factory Bose system (no Nav) with 6 disk changer. One day I smelled something burning - that electric burn smell. it was coming from my stereo.

Monitor works fine, but looks like my stereo is burnt out - nothing plays though it will turn on and load CDs.

I'm not sure what to do, but i'm scared as hell about going to the dealer for this.

Anyone have any suggestions? Would it be worth it at all to look into getting the nav unit installed if I have to repair it? What kind of costs are we looking at here, and what are my best options?

Thanks!

The Nav mo and non, both use the same bose deck... you can go aftermarket or replace the factory deck with one off ebay, there several threads on how to take the radio out (not that hard)

Hey Bigbman,

I've got a spare Bose 6 CD changer/radio I would be willing to sell you if you are interested. It's completely functional. PM me if you are interested. :)

Thanks,
