I have had my 07 MO for a couple of months now (about 2000 miles on the clock) and have found that the front suspension seems to be noisier than it should be. To the point of making a clunking sound over bumps in the road that should not provide more than a thud as feedback. Doesn't seem normal. I will address with the dealer at the first oil change appt, but seeking your feedback on if anyone else is experiencing the same.
Thanks in advance.... |

Why wait? If your 2000-mile old MO is making loud, unusual noises I would bring it to their attention ASAP. You could have a damaged suspension component that may be compromising the safety of the car (or it could be nothing, but why take the risk?).

The steering rack mounting bolts probably need to be re-torqued. Mine started doing the same thing a few months after I bought it. I mentioned it to the service manager when I was picking up a bag of oil filters. One of the mechanics said, "Let me take it back for a minute." Five minutes later he was back with the MO and told me one of the rack mounting bolts needed to be snugged.
End of the clunk.
I thing there is a TSB for it. At least on the 2003. |

UncaDanno-
The loose steering rack was a common problem on 2003 MOs, but was rarely seen after that first year.
Damaged/bent strut?
