Looks like the Nissan Japaneses Presidential or the old Q45/M45s
Its not awful... I like it I think maybe, we'll see when the diesel gets put in it. |

Nope....sorry. Fugly.
Between the new Murano (sorry 2nd gen lovers), the new Sentra, the Rogue and this - I think Nissan has lost their styling direction. |

I think it looks fine, and that is coming from an actual Maxima owner (I have a 97 which is still running strong).
It is certainly more interesting to look at than an Accord or Camry, or perhaps in the large car category Avalon or a Buick Lucerne. The press release says that Nissan tried to make the new Maxima perform very well for a FWD sedan, and I think it will turn out to be a pretty good car. Styling is always subjective, but in the end most modern designs win favor over older styling. |

The 2nd gen Murano is a huge improvement in both exterior and interior looks. Nissan did a great job. |

| Sorry Guys, I think it looks very nice. |

| I think it is a much better looker than the '00 and not as bland as the '95 generation in their respective introductions |

in maxima the gen 4 and gen 5.5 where the best....
In the murano, they almost look the same shape, same lines, in retrospect... |

| I kind of like it - just on the first look. But its definitely quite a change. There's not much that looks like an older Max. Almost looks like they took away some of the rear leg room. (I had an 00 Max before the MO) |

the nose looks more Infinti-like, which I like on the G, but not so much here. But I like the rest of the car. It has a nice side profile. Interior is kinda bland to me, though.
But hey, it's a Maxima, Ill take it! |

So Crash, you have been outnumbered.

Not to take sides; but I think it's a nice looking vehicle. So was their last gen body style too. However, you can really see the Infinity influence coming through in the new gen on the outside. I'm not too crazy about the front fenders wrapping into the headlight housing though.
It looks very sleek and luxurious. Unfortunately it looks like all other sleek looking luxury vehicles out there...... |

Everyone is allowed their own opinions; despite how wrong they are ;)
My gut says this will bomb. Unless it's much better looking in person - bomb.
For the record, I thought the last gen Maxima was stunning |

| Then Again. I think the new accords are ugly... I didn't really like the last gen maxima either... dropping the six speed option and a cvt ewwww... the last great maxima was the 02-03 except for the whole HID theft, which kept me petrified every time I parked it in the city |

I just saw the '09 today at the NY Auto Show. I would almost say that the pictures do it more justice. I'm coming from an '02 Max to my Mo, so I know a little bit about Maximas. The 5th and 5.5 Gen (00-03) were well-rounded, but not too luxurious. The 6th Gen (04-06) was pretty much unattractive all-around IMHO. The 6.5 Gen (07-08) made the 6th gen more livable - the improved front and rear-ends made a big difference, but the car is still a boat. The 2009, to me, is very luxurious looking. Yes, it has influences from many other cars (lexus, infiniti)...I even think the grille and surrounding treatment takes something from the Dodge Charger grille (bold, squared off, flat front). Either way, the new car is nice, but I wouldn't say I love it. And on top of that, it looks huge - even larger than the current gen, or at least longer. To most people, the beautiful interior, and increased power will compensate for a large car that may not have as much fun factor as it once did and looks like many other cars on the road.
Just my $0.02... |

| Maybe im "stuck" in the past, but i cannot for the life of me figure out why every car manufacturer insists on the huge headlights. I like the NEW MO, Accord Coupe, FX35 and all older models with nice sleek horizontal headlights. With all the advancements with lighting these days, they still put huge ones on cars. Not liking it. |

The accord coupe is pretty awesome; the sedan, not so much.
My problem w/ this Maxima is that it is straying too far from what the original Maxima was...a 4-door sports sedan. This looks too luxurious / too posh....In a weird way, I almost see the G35 as the TRUE Maxima of todays gen (based upon my definition of a Maxima at least).
A Maxima doesn't need to be larger then the Altima. |

U're absolutely right.
In Nissans case, i believe that is the market they are hoping for for the Maxima - more luxyry for the older crowd (with more money). I dont think the Maxima will change.
The Altima is for the younger generation (25-40yr olds) I think.(still expensive though @ 25-35K) Thats why it took over as their main line.
I remember the days of the Stanza - I loved that car - smaller sporty look with a stick shift and a V6 - Altima was the offspring of it. |

| the new maxima looks awesome.... i love it.... except the part where they kept it fwd..... if it was rwd, i'd seriously consider it.... but then that would steal from infiniti sales.... |

It looks pretty good to me.
As to the 4DSC, I thought the original was a joke.
Good car of course, but a SC? Give me a break.
BTW I had a 77 810.
Now as a sport sedan, this looks good to me on the outside, tho I do understand the argument about the big headlights.
That could have made a great styling cue......
Somebody will do it.
Interior is OK too EXCEPT they should borrow my Caddy and learn how to do a center stack.
That gaping hole for the NAV is bad. Very bad, IMO.
Overall, I would give it a B and think they will sell "OK".
The proof will be in the driving of course.
But it "looks" like a luxurious Sport Coupe with the accent on the Lux.
Also the pricing.
If they get up to 40K, they can't carry my other car's jock strap in styling for that kind of money.
