Unlock doors when placed in Park - Click HERE for Original Thread
bwheels
hello, new to the forum, just got my murano on wednesday, LE graphite/black, with nav and roof, and was wondering if anyone has had the dealer change the setting so all the doors unlock when placed in "Park" Currently they unlock when you hit the off button. The manual says that a Nissan technician can change it so this can be done, but my dealer tried and could not, so if anyone has had this done please let me know, i found this setting nice on my previous 4runner--thanks

There were 160+ people who looked at your post. You have a ligitimate question. Yet not one of those people bother to respond to your post, if even to say "i Don't know". I know how you feel. I am so sorry for you.

No worries tristan :-) All is good and I am dealing with the locks at the moment. I have to take it back in to get a hitch installed so I will bug the guys at the dealership if no one knows on this site.

Thanks for the reply!

I would also like to have the doors unlock when in park. I had that on my Toyota Matrix. I was able to configure the car to do that myself. Sure wish the Murano allowed us to do that too rather than having to go back to the dealer.

Tristan-

You have been on this site for all of three posts, yet somehow you feel you are qualified to criticize the membership for not responding to a post. How is that?

With very few exceptions, we don't ignore posts, (except in Gonzo's case, but that is another story). If someone can post a reply they will. It would be a waste of time to respond with "i Don't know". Just like this post is a waste of my time.

Take it easy there little buddy. I was simply stating the obvious. If it seemed like a qualifying criticism to you, well then I am so sorry for you too. Also, not that its any of your business, the reason i have posted only three times is ... well, I'll just leave that to your imagination. :yodaddy:

I have an SL without the nav package and I tried to have it done at the dealership. They apparently talked to Nissan HQ and found out that it can only be done on one with the nav package. So to answer your question, I haven't had it done on mine, but my dealership did confirm that it could be done if you have nav.

The nav limitation seems a bit odd to me. If anybody finds out that it can be done on one without the nav please let me know (along with any details I can pass on to my dealer if possible).

You can add lock/unlock and Speed control lock by adding two modules ($75 total cost). You can buy the modules from KP Technologies

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I'm picking up my new 09' Black on Black LE with Nav & Moonroof on Monday. I told the salesman to have service take care of the the airbag recall and to reprogram to locks to unlock in park BEFORE I pick it up. He was like "Huh?". I gave him a copy of the recall notice and I highlighted a copy of the page from the owner's manual that I got online showing that the locks can be done and that it must be done by the dealer.

The dealer couldn't fine a car with roof rails and rear cargo protector for me, but I found them online for less than invoice price would have been if they were installed at the factory. Should have those two pieces by Friday.

Cutting it close with the extended warranty, in that Warranty Direct's prices go up April 1st. As long as I can give them the VIN before closing on Monday, I'm good with the old prices. I decided to go with the LuxuryCare 8 Years 120K.

Take care!

Jim,

Have you used Warranty Direct before and if so how do you like them. I plan on keeping my Murano for awhile and am thinking about the extended Warranty. Would love some input.

Thanks,

Chris,

check out this previous thread…

Yes, I have used them before and would HIGHLY recommend them. I spent a lot of time researching extended warranties before I purchased my first one and am glad I did. The big thing is that they cover "wear-and-tear" breakdowns and this is where the Nissan warranty will bite you in the rear. Take care

I also have a 09. I have also called the service dept. They said while setting in the car, hold down the lock button and unlock button on your key fob at the same time, when the car beeps. It MIGHT be set. If that doesn't do it they said bring it in and they will do it with their computer. I will be bringing mine it, cause it didn't work.
ctunderw
Great I will give that a try. Let me know if the dealer is successful in changing the way the locks work.

besides that having the car automaticaly lock doors and turn on the alarm after a set time out would be nice. My quest has that.

Yeah...the car wash people would love it too....:4:

I had that on my Honda and finally decided to disable it because a lot of times it would lock the doors and arm the alarm when I did not want it to...

well yes, but that is why it is an option, you can turn it off.

I too have been curious about this. I tried the suggestion listed, but it did not seem to work. I took the Murano to the dealership the other day, and they were unable to do it. He just sat in the vehicle with me and pushed a few buttons. They needed to contact Nissan for more information. I do not have the NAV installed. Has anyone had any success with the key fob, that does not have the nav.?
ZBoy
We had our dealer do it. At first he said it could not be done, then I showed him in the manual where it indicated that a NISSAN dealer could set it.

He agreed, called up Nissan, and now when we shift our non-NAV into Park, the doors unlock, when we put it in drive the lock.

Its great.

I know this isn't directly related to the question asked in this thread, but it is related. Vehicles that have auto lock/unlocks drive me nuts. I hate it when I pull over to pick someone up and they try to get in the vehicle and the doors are locked...and I didn't lock them.

But there is a simple way to disable this option on your 2009 Muranos.

-Get in the vehicle
-make sure all the doors are closed
-start up the ignition
-within 20seconds, hold the lock/unlock in the LOCK position
-after 5seconds the hazards will blink. and it will no longer auto lock once you start driving

then you need to do it again to disable the auto-unlock feature when you turn off the ignition (otherwise, when you stop you Murano, it will try to unlock the already unlocked doors. heh)

-Get in the vehicle
-make sure all the doors are closed
-start up the ignition
-within 20seconds, hold the lock/unlock in the UNLOCK position
-after 5seconds the hazards will blink. and it will no longer auto unlock when the ignition is turned off(or when you put it into Park)
