Theoretically they do not need to be changed, but they do wear out. Brake fluid will absorb moisture over time, but not so much that it is an issue anymore - I recommend bleeding the brakes every time the pads are changed.
As for the power steering fluid, its up to you, but I use a turkey baster and some PVC tubing to suck out the old fluid and then refill with new fluid - its cheap and can't hurt. But most people don't do it. |

Nissan has no recommended replacement intervals for either the power steering or brake fluids. That would lead one to believe that they would last a "lifetime".
I plan on keeping my MO for 5 years so I have no intention of changing either fluid. However, if I was the original owner of a 1963 split-window Corvette I would have changed both fluids at least once every decade. :p

What does the fluid changing color (darker) suppose? Do you all think any type of contamination or abrasives?
Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum!
Depending on the fluid in question, a change in color (darker) could reflect contamination and/or prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
