Hi,
I was thinking of buying an 07 Murano, and am now concerned about the number of problems i've read about on this site pretaining to the transfer case and CVT trans.
Anyone know if these been resolved in the 07 model year?
thanks |

| I don't think there has ever been any known problem with the CVT. The transfer case is another issue - I think it is less a mechanical issue than oil seals that are prone to leakage. There are various posts on this forum that show how to detect the leak, which if caught early, can be repaired. I think the transfer cases fail because the oil leaks out over time, leading to mechanical issues. |

2007-
The short answer? NO, the CVT and transfer case have not been redesigned for 2007. However, the frequency of failures is extremely low. The failure rate is on par with other manufacturers' conventional auto trannys.
I would not let the CVT/X-fer case issues affect your decision. The MO is a great car that is fun to drive (for a crossover).

| Ok thanks. I was worried since i live in Canada and will need this thing to get me through some deep snow and there will be some ice and icey patches as well. |

I don't think you have anything to worry about - the MO's AWD system is more than adequate for some deep snow we've had here in central and northern Illinois, and with stability control, its about as safe as it gets. You can read all sorts of accounts here about how great the MO does in snow. |
