I have an 04' Murano that I purchased new. Have had several minor problems but the dealer took care of them. Unresolved issues are:
1. Drivers door window motor rattles and dealer said that Nissan does not have a fix at this time. (This was over 18months ago)
2. About 2 months ago I started to notice transmission problems. When I started the engine it would climb to 2100 RPM and then settle after about a minute or so. Never did that before. Then when I put it in drive, it started out in about third gear and wouldn't't shift to the last gear until well after the engine warmed up. Going 30mph the tach would be at 2500rpm. At 60mph it would be close to 4000rpm. Took it to my dealer and was told the trans fluid needed changed, etc. OK. Picked it up that night and still doing the same. Left it and the next day they told me I needed a new trans. They ordered one and replaced it. Picked it up, same thing. Went right back and they kept if for a few days and said that shift delay was normal. They said they drove 4 other 04's and did the same thing. Said computer showed normal operation. BS.
I called Nissan and they set me up with the next closest dealer. They said the computer showed normal operation but they did find something disconnected and after connection, was a lot better. Drove home, same thing. I was born and raised in the car business and although I am no longer in it, I KNOW there is something wrong. Anybody got any suggestions? Is there a fluid temperature sensor that may control this?

Did you have a tech sit with you when you drove the car, to demonstrate that the rpms were too high? It is almost like your transmission is stuck in Ds. |

Welcome to the forum.
Next time you are at the dealership find another 1st-generation MO on the lot and take the Service Adviser for a demo ride. Then take him for a ride in your MO and point out the differences. If you can get him to acknowledge there is a difference, then you have at least won part of the battle.

| I took the service manager and the head Nissan tech with me. When I accelerated and the rpm's just kept going up they both said, "wow". I have driven several MO's that do not have the problem. I think it has to be some sort of a sensor myself. |

Ok so they said "wow." Did they try to fix it? You report the problem even after the initial repairs is still present. They should still be obligated to repair the problem. |

| After a transmission service (which they refunded the cost) and a new transmission, I still have the problem. I let a message with Nissan Tech Support. We'll see what happens. I just wondered if anybody else has this problem. |

I wonder if the problem is with the shifter/shiftgate - does the dash display say D? Or Ds? |

Looks like a sliding clutch... but what bothers me is that it wont shif to third gear?? That could be the fuel injector bro. |

There are no traditional gears on the CVT. Unless you have an SE with manual mode, there is no simulated third gear either. Still seems to be stuck on Ds to me. |

Most likely I think. However, the CVT always feels like a slipping clutch as thats how CVTs feel like. I think the newer generation of CVTs from Nissan with the adaptive shift programming mimics a traditional geared automatic so the slipping feeling is probably less pronounced. |
