Hi.
Dealer made no mention, but there are computers in each tire air nozzle. They control the AWD and monitor tire pressure. These chips oxidize much quicker if oxygen is used in tires. I was also cautioned that if you lose a nozzle cap, replace it quickly becase water will also make it rust very quickly.
My friends at the tire place let me know that each of these chips are $150-$200 each.
I put down the $20 and filled my tires with Nitrogen.
Just putting it out there... |

You are kidding, right?? You are using the "chips will last much longer if I use nitrogen" logic to justify it's use. Baloney.
We debated the Nitrogen vs. Air issue at length a few years ago. Search for "Nitrogen" and you will find the threads. There is little if any benefit to using Nitrogen in passenger car tires. No matter how the tire dealers hype it, good 'ol air is just as good as Nitrogen.

| The air you breath is about 78% nitrogen anyhow so there would be little difference. |
