Right now I have an '04 SL MO and I'm about to take it in for a check up and want to make it run like new!
Give me a list of every possible thing that I could have the Nissan dealership do to my Mo to make it run like new.
Also what could they clean to make my MPG go up?
PS I need to get my rear wiper changed because it is coming apart so do I need to go to the dealer or is it fine doing it myself? Also how do I do it myself? |

How many miles are on your MO?
Depending on the mileage there may be no reason to take your MO to the dealer and shell out unnecessary bucks. Most local garages can do the same service for a lot less.
The major items are:
- Change oil and oil filter
- Replace engine air filer
- Replace cabin air filter
- Rotate tires
- Replace antifreeze if older than 3 years
- Replace fan belts if older than 3 years
- Replace spark plugs if you have more than 100,000 miles
- Check brakes

I'd say anyone could do the rear wiper blade themself. I just did the one on my wife's Mo at 48K miles.
Pop off the wiper arm cover, remove the mounting nut, and pry the entire arm off the car (if it's never been off, you might have to work at prying it loose a bit).
I recommend buying a new blade at the dealer, cause (unlike the front blades) it has a unique mounting latch. I think it cost about $17. The new blade comes with the same instructions as the FSM for detaching the old blade and popping the new one in. It's a little tricky, but if you follow the instructions, it's really pretty easy. After you do it, you realize that the instructions make it look way harder than it really is.
Took me about 10 minutes to do the whole job the first time. I know the next time it will take no more than 5 minutes. |
