AWD Turns off even if locked? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I was reading a review of my '04 Murano and they said even when in lock the AWD system turns off after 35 MPH... does it?

Is there a speed limit to the AWD?
Gonzo
Yes the AWD will turn off..... in the 03's it was at 18MPH... in later models it was reduced to something like 12MPH but I can't remember which year.

However, the system is always in auto mode which means that at any speed if the system senses that AWD is required it will engage it.

Remember do NOT lock the AWD on dry pavement or non-slick situations... you will cause damage to the drive train system. That is also in the manual.

Yes and no.

YES, there is a speed limit for the manual AWD lock. It varies according to the model year and whether or not a service bulletin was implemented on your MO.

NO, there is no speed limit for the AWD to automatically engage the system if wheel-slip is detected.

Any of you guys own an 09? If I switch on the AWD LOCK light on my 09 it does not extinguish at any speed.

The following excerpt is from the Owners Manual.

I suggest you take your MO to the dealer if the AWD light on the switch does not go out after driving on the highway.

My dealer checked with Nissan and says this is a misprint. I was just trying to confirm.
