Lower side body trim - Click HERE for Original Thread

The '09 Murano has plastic trim with a chrome plastic insert on the lower side body (below the doors). Can anyone tell me how to remove the trim so I can black-out the chrome insert? Thanks.

While I'm on the subject, does anyone else share my desire to eliminate the chrome trim, chrome door handles and chrome on the toothy front grill?

Actually, I totally get where you're coming from. I don't like chrome (or faux-chrome) at all.
However on the Murano, it's understated enough that I can't make myself go to the trouble to remove it.
Had it been an option to not have chrome, sure I would have gone there, but...

chrome can make a car look very ghetto or very classy depending on the car and how it is pulled off....the chrome looks classy on the murano imo....

it has as much chrome as you would find in the same places on a benz....just minor accents.... without it the murano might look like a cheaper car...

you should photoshop a picture of the murano without chrome to see if you like it before you proceed....

if you black out the insert on the bottom.... the door handles will look out of place.... then you would have to paint those body color....

The small touches of chrome are certainly not overwhelming... in fact, the car might look pretty sharp with chrome wheels to complement the rest. I've just personally never been a fan of chrome... I've been blacking out chrome on my vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes) for 30 years... more of a sport look than a luxo look for sure. I already de-badged the rear, and I did do some photoshop testing and I like the look with black door handles and lower trim (on my black car). I'm still undecided on what to do with the grill... I think a black chrome look would be cool if I could get that effect, otherwise that will be gloss black to match the body. Still not sure about the wheels either... thinking of painting them a deep bronze (more copper than gold) for some nice contrast but still understated look.

Anyway, anybody know how to remove that lower trim without breaking off any mounting tabs? I suppose I could stop by my local autobody shop and ask them, but I'm betting somebody here knows or has a manual that shows it. Thanks.
