Record sat on the hard drive - Click HERE for Original Thread

Is it possible to record the Satellite radio onto the hard drive? That would be great to be able to record a show and listen to it later a la PVR.

Seems like that would be the only useful funtion of the Hard Drive. Cause let's be honest. If you have a CD, it's probably already on your iPod.

Answer: NO.

What IPOD, and how would I connect it to my car? No LE, here..

If I have a CD, it's a no brainer to stick it in, and have it rip to the hard drive. ESPECIALLY if you change it to automatic.
I put it in, it starts ripping and I switch to radio or XM, so that it rips in just a few minutes....

Ah it might just be another difference between Canadian and US models. In Canada, a prerequisite to having the Hard Drive music box is to have the iPod interface.

I suppose it makes sense to have one or the other. Here, we are stuck with either:

- iPod
OR
- iPod & Music Box

Still think it would be super sweet if it were able to be set it up to record the Satellite onto the Music Box. Maybe in a year or two.

This is no such prerequisite, per se. A better way of saying it would be that NAV (with Music Box) is *not* available on the SL in Canada, rather on the LE models only (which you have two). iPod interface is not an option you can choose to have or not to have in either country.
