Hi,
I was a part of this forum for a while. I do not have a lot of post, but I hope my advises helped people. And of course I got a lot of information from all of you. Thank you and hat off. Anyway, I traded my 2003 SE MO for Mazda CX9. Similar look, but bigger and that what I wanted. I am missing my MO very much. Not because I do not like CX9, it is top of the line, great car with all the bells and weasels, my Mo had not have. It is hard to explain what and why I feel this way: is it the look?-may be, way how it drives-may be (never had my steering wheel straight after numerous wheel alignments), CVT - may be (cx9 shifting is very smooth as well, that's why it was on my list), spirit - most likely. I remember when people on the streets was steering at me when I was passing by.....now you can see 4 MO on the traffic light stop and its only 6 cars there....Well, again thank you all. My lease will be over at the end of 2009 (2 years) and may be I will be back. I just wish that Nissan will make MO with 3rd row.....
:( :( :( :( :( |

Good bye and Good Luck with your CX9.
I'd be curious to know what kind of gas mileage you get with those new weasels. They eat almost as much as horses. Just joking!
Good luck and enjoy the new ride! |

You guys are so dramatic...
I just bought a 2007 MO, and while I would never call it magical, I like it a lot. You make the car sound bad for the rest of us, when it's still a great car. I guess if I had an FX35 and a 2008 CTS, I might feel the same way, but for now, I like the MO.
Murano_driver - Good luck with your CX9, they're very nice... |

No, not really.
For those of us who either owned and were interested in the MO in 2003/2004, the MO was a very unique car then. They were so few and far in between that they were, in fact, special.
The MO was not heavily advertised at it's introduction. My first experience was seeing it as it passed me on the road. It was so unique looking I almost turned around to follow it. I did not see another MO until several weeks later. It's low numbers made it a rare car indeed.
No other crossover had the contours of the MO. No other car in the US had a CVT. It was unique in both respects. Now, no less than eight different car models are offered with a JATCO CVT and the MO's design elements are less distinguishable from others in it's class.
So, no, the guys are not being overly dramatic when they talk about owning a rare MO in 2003.

I am sorry if I wasn’t clear about it. I still like the Murano. The original one. I am not saying that the 2009 is bad car, far from that. I am sure the drivetrain and interior is better as well as the technology. However, it lost it uniqueness, it became “Hyundai like”….as most of the CUV’s did….and it is not good…at least from my point of view….
“Magical” – yes, it was like that in 2003 as Joe mentioned above. Not now. It is just another CUV….
“I guess if I had an FX35 and a 2008 CTS, I might feel the same way, but for now, I like the MO.” - it has nothing to do with these cars. Each is different and has different appeal. To be honest, I do not really like the FX, I would take Murano instead. But not the CTS. I am a car guy, not SUV, CUV or truck guy. So I am biased and it shows….. |

I agree with Joe. I bought mine in last 3 days on Dec 03, just after Xmas. I found this site shortly after.
As a group we were all in the discovery stage. Did you know this or that? Even something like finding a pull strap between the back seat cushions to adjust the angle was something I did not know about until reading it here.
The folks buying the GTR will soon be in that position where people will wonder what is that car? They will have their own forum and world of being the first owners of a unique car.
Anyway, good luck Murano Driver, you have walked the walk that we will all eventually take. Nothing is forever except maybe the forum.

| I hope I didn't offend anybody; I don't want to start off on the wrong foot here. I can see what you guys are saying about when the Mo first came out, how it was in a class of it's own. I guess I took Kris' comment about the 'magic' being lost the wrong way. Ultimately, I love my Mo, and I'm just getting started with it. |

I'm have been looking at buying an 07 for a couple months now and it partly because i still think they are unique in a way. Maybe not as unique as they were in 2003, but i still think the lines as well as the dash set them apart from other SUV's. I do like the FX35, but i just dont want to spend that much since this is only my second (winter/DD) vehicle, and i have found them fun to drive (for an SUV).
just my .02. :) |

I agree with all of you guys about the "magic" of 2003. I bought my first Murano about a month after they arrived and it was so much fun to have such a unique vehicle at the time and I never saw another one like it for many months. That one was traded in 2006 for another on with everything and, while it was a much better car having worked out the kinks of the first few years, it was never as much fun to me, if that makes sense.
I actually traded the '06 two weeks ago for a '08 BMW X3. I looked at the '09 , but were already seeing them everywhere and thought I would go for a lower production vehicle (and bought a new color and the only local one - so far) with service and loaner vehicles included. The BMW is fun, but it do miss the techy side of the Murano and even the CVT!
By the way, a late thanks to everyone here for all the info from 2003 forward! |

Joe; you are so funny :2:
Murano_driver; enjoy your CX9 - they did a good job with it. Of course it only took them 5 years:2: :2: . Sorry; couldn't resist the poke.... It really is a nice vehicle.
I remember driving down the highway with our new '03 back when we first got it. I was in the middle lane of a 3-lane highway when a car went screaming passed me on the left; I looked at the guy driving and he was looking BACKWARDS at me with a huge grin and a thumbs up! It's a good thing there was no traffic:4: |
