I'm thinking of upgrading the suspension in my Mo. After 125,000 km (77,000 miles) I'm finding the Murano to be a little bouncy. I drive it fairly hard - alot of higher speeds over very bumpy highways.
I'm just looking for some insight on what I should do - replace just springs, or shocks / struts too? I found the H&R springs for the Murano, but couldn't really find any other aftermarket suspension parts.
I took a look at the shocks / struts, and they look to be in ok shape - no leaks or anything from them.
My Mo is sitting just over an inch lower than it should be from factory. Perhaps new springs alone would provide me with the more stiffer feel that I'm looking for?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jason. |

There aren't too many aftermarket suspension options for the Murano. From what I remember, they are
Spring:
Eibach prokit (might be discontinued)
H&R sport
Both these will drop the ~2" from stock
Struts/shocks
KYB GR2 (these are not really aftermarket performance shocks though, more like "get the new ride feeling back shocks")
Wish they made KYB AGX's for the Murano! |

Getting H&R instaled this Saturday
Will let you know how it goes.
P.S H&R drops more that Eibach
Eibachs have been out of production. |

If you are finging that your MO feels "bouncy" that would indicate that your shocks are not controling the rebound. If you feel that the car is squating lower than they use to; then it would be your springs.
Have you tried to bring your MO into a speed shop or a custom shop to see if they might have any suggestions? It would be interesting to see if there are other options up in Canada than OEM.
BTW- what rim and tire set up are you running? That too will have an effect on the whole ride. |

Well, Handling is the number 1 thing for me here.
H&R is a great company with great reputation. They work with BMW's and make them handl even better.
I understand that you have cut your springs, did you try the car before and after the cut?
Cutting the springs is always a bad idea. |

I have H&R's on my Maxima and they are great. However, I would not put them on my Murano as there are no suitable aftermarket shocks/struts for the Murano. I used AGX's on the Maxima and they were great - had Tokico Blues for a short while too and they were not so good.
Right now I'd take just about any aftermarket performance shock/strut for the Murano, but all we have are OEM replacement KYB GR2's. |

| it was bouncy before the cut and very bouncy after the cut...in terms of handling no compaints what soever i make a right turn at 30 with ease and with the bigger tires i have alot of grip on the turns |

Springs are engineered in a fashion so that certain parts of the spring compress at a faster rate that other parts of the spring and therefore retain a certain characteristic nature of that model.
Altering the springs by cutting it at certain points will alter the handling nature changing the spring and compression ratio. Unless you have worked with springs before and know the outcome of your actions; it's a wild guess at how it will handle afterwards.
I don't do any wild driving with the MO so OEM is fine with me and looks like the choices are few and in between for now. |

Long gone are the days when you could go down to Sears or your local auto parts store and choose from a selection of half a dozen different type shocks for your vehicle.

Guys, I got my mo back last night from the shop after installing the H&R suspention and a B&B performance chip.
First for the H&R:
Unbelievable. They are super, my 32K Nissan Murano feels as tough as my friend’s 80K BMW 4.8 X5!!
You feel it German tough, a little rougher on speed bumps, but this is fine with me. Cornering in out of this world, this is how I want it, the car looks and feels SHARP. I am not sure how it will be on the long run, but hey for now, this is super. Today I parked next to a Porsche Cayenne, hey I don’t care it costs 3 to 4 times as much as my Mo, My mo look great even next to the Porsche
My recommendation, get it.
Now for the B&B chip, I got them from http://www.globalautoshop.com/perfo...mance_index.htm
The Take off is not much better, if it is better. But I feel the respond on the speed of 30 mph or so is better, but it could be the power of suggestion.
I hope this help guy, any questions, just let me know.

maxtoons.com;
Do you have a part or model # for the springs?
Were they installed onto the OEM shocks?
Thanks;
John. |

I got the parts from Ebay, just look for Murano H&R, I don't have any part number on me now.
They are working with the OEM shocks fine. |

Working fine *for now* - they will wear out much more quickly with the lowered springs though. |
