Wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. It sounds like an old door but only from a dead stop. Took it to the dealer and the tech spent a total of an hour with me driving and trying to locate the origin of the noise. The tech took the axle and lubed it but still sounds like creaking old door. All the tech could tell me was it could be the bull bar. The bull bar is mounted in the same place as a T&H bar but the mounting plates are a bit flimsy and the bar tends to vibrate a bit. Thinking of removing the bar and seeing if this is actually the cause. The tech tighten the bar though and did not charge me for anything.

| The noise is getting really annoying. I found a TSB for either a loose/missing bolts or cracked front exhaust pipe, loose heat shield. I am not sure if this applies but I'll try anyways. I am also going to ask if they could check the parking brakes. |

Ron,
If nothing else works, then I would remove the bull bar to see if that is the source of the noise. If it is, then you have to decide if the look is worth the nuisance. If it is not the source, then the dealer has no excuse for not digging in deeper to figure out the cause.
Good luck.

RoNYC-
If it turns out to be the bull bar, I would not abandon it just yet. There may be a better way to secure it to reduce or eliminate the noise.
Good luck.

I was actually thinking of alternate ways to mount it if IT is the source of the noise. I'll keep you guys updated.
Thanks again! |

Some polyeurethane bushings on the mounts might quiet things down. |

| The strangest thing happened on 2 separate occasions. Went to get the Mo washed, and low and behold NO NOISE!. It was pouring last night here in NYC and again no noise. |

Hmmm.... It is possible the water is acting as a lubricant between the mating surfaces. Or maybe it is just a coincidence. :8:

Could this be a brake problem? It only happens after a dead stop, after releasing the brakes. It seems to disappear when it rains/gets wet. I don't think water can get that far in the underworks of the Mo IF the noise is coming from anywhere else. By the way the car wash and rain was several days apart. I was playing with the brakes today, depress and release. The noise is very much there. Tried to shake the bar up and down and side to side, no noise. I was not able to take the bar off though, too hectic this weekend.

Thanks Eric will consider that if that is the problem. |

Just an update:
The noise got to a point where it was unbearable this morning. Went to a parking lot and took the nudge bar off. Guess what? NO NOISE? Apparently it was the bar. I am thinking of mounting it on the frame this time, similar to the oem bar. I just have to get my hands on a pair of brackets.
Thanks for everyones help! |
