Why the Aux Jacks - Click HERE for Original Thread
martinrrrr
I have an 09 SL, with leather, Tech & Convince package and the dual moonroof. The moonroof eliminates the DVD package so why do I have the Auxiliary jack on the center console?

martinrrrr-

Welcome to the forum.

The AUX input can be used for any device that has a standard audio output like an MP3 player, cassette player, etc.

Thanks for the response, I didn't realize that my MP3 would be able to use the Red Aux jack. I have a Sansa MP3 player so I guess that I need to get a cable then to play the MP3s in the Murano. I am getting ready to run some errands so I'll stop by the local Radio Shack and see what they have.

Thanks again,

Roger

Not just the red jack, but the white also (stereo sound = red + white). You can also use the yellow for video, but the Murano has to be in Park with the parking brake set.

You can get a 3.5mm audio (this is the standard headphone jack that your MP3 player has) to RCA (the red-white) cable for about $5 and it can be used in the Murano to play any device that has a headphone jack.

Yep, your right. I went to Radio Shack earlier and they set me straight. It cost me $10 and it works.

For future reference, Radio Shack has at least a 100% premium on all cables. Sometimes it's worth the convience of getting it that day, but whenever I can wait a week, I hit up an eBay vendor such as cable expert That same cable would have cost you under $5. That includes shipping costs.

Just FYI.

Check out this site:
http://www.sfcable.com/

the cables on here are WAYYY cheaper.

you can get that stereo cable for 2.50 on this site as opposed to over $10 at radio shack.

Yeah, there are much cheaper places to get cables than Radio Shack. However, I was too excited to plug and chug with the MP3. When I have more patience, I order from Monoprice. The stereo cable from them are $0.73 each.

Another great use is an after market DVD player. You hang the monitor between the headrests and play the sound through the red/white connectors for awesome theater experience. We always did that in our Pacifica before we traded it in on an '09. This gives you rear seat entertainment for only about $200. Only downside is the two cables (sound and power) for the DVD player. We only do this for long vacations so it's not a problem then.

Has anyone found a way to disable the safety feature with the AUX jack? (for my passenger, of course ;) )

Wish my '07 had Aux. jacks. Just bought my daughter an ipod and would be nice to plug 'er in.

Sure be nice if the mp3 players would connect to the sound system via bluetooth. I would love an iTouch that connected audio via stero bluetooth.

Yeah, that just got added to the feature list on my well-planned-but-yet-to-be-executed carputer. Slap some bluetooth headphones on the iRiver and let the carputer connect at will. Sure, I'll have most of my music on the hard drive anyway, but maybe I'm in the midst of a really good album when I get back to the car and don't want to have to search through the music to get to the same point.

Lazy? Or just really awesome?
