Anyone with Merlot? - Click HERE for Original Thread

We toyed with the Merlot 09 LE but I really like my Platinum Graphite.

I realize that color is practically all in the eye of the beholder, but for you who bought it--does it look cheezy or a nice, rich red color? (Especially in various lighting.)

My wife and I were afraid that it would be "old people" red ("like Uncle Bob's red Toyota van") so we avoided it.

I'm not knocking it, just wondering if the Merlot is sufficiently go-fast looking like the Platinum Graphite most definitely looks.

I drove two hours away just to get an LE Merlot with the beige interior and we really like it. It has a pearl type finish so in the direct sun the color really pops. I have always stayed away from the silver and gray colors because they blend in to the color of the roadway and some people just can't see the car coming at them. I had a very good friend in a horrible accident for that very reason.

Thanks for the candid reply. How about on a gray day--does the Merlot look dull and flat? (I ask because that's what Nissan's blue does and that is why we didn't do that color.

Re how silver and gray cars blend in to the background: that's why I am installing a DRL module on my 'Mo. I plan to light up the turn signal filament like I have on my Pathfinder and my Outback.

On a gray day it looks like any other burgundy car, dull and flat but any color looks dull and flat when it is overcast. I have had several compliments on the color.

I've got an 06 Merlot, and it does look nice. A very classy colour. I sure hope they've made the paint harder though as I've got loads of stone chips on mine--and they're very evident with a Merlot over grey primer finish.

I love the color. Take a look at my gallery. It will give you an idea on what the color looks like at different angles and different lighting.

I had a burgundy Malibu, and didn't think I would probably buy the color again. I had my heart set on a blue Murano, but we fell in love with merlot the second we saw it.

It doesn't look the greatest dirty, but what color does?

I have the 09 Merlot with black. It looks great when its clean but when it gets dirty it looks like all the other dark red cars.
