Hello guys
I have a 09 SL, with Bose Sound System, no Nav, No Technology package
I was wondering if there is a way to replace the factory radio for an aftermarket one. I have always been a big fan of Alpine stereos.
My main concern is about all the neat information you can actually see on the factory screen: A/C info, gas info, service reminder, etc, etc, etc.
Any advice/recommendations?
Also, I am thinking on getting a Garmin GPS 760, but I don't want to see the power cable running on top of my controls. Any idea how to hide the cable?
I have no clue how to remove the controls console to access the interior of the radio and take a look inside the dashboard to try to run the cable.
If any body has pictures of how to do this, it will be appreciated.
Thanks,
G. |

I'm not sure about the Murano, but generally in these cars where the climate control and radio appear to be one piece, they share a circuit board. This makes it very difficult to replace the head unit. I have done it before in other cars, but I had to leave the stock head unit in place to allow for climate control. Also, the latest Alpine offerings haven't really sounded as good as the decks I've had a few years back. Maybe its just me.
Hopefully someone else will have a better answer on how to perform this task, but I think you are looking at a pain in the butt. |

A handful of members have put new stereo head units in their MOs, but they left the stock radio in place because of the other systems that reside on the board.
I am not sure if anyone has removed it entirely.

Thanks for your comments guys
How and where can you install an extra radio unit?
What about the dashboard removal to run the wires?
any idea about how to do this?

Before undertaking the project I suggest you get your hands on a Service Manual. You can download the whole manual from Nissan for only $20. Believe me when I say it is money well spent.

I went and visited the web page, but it says that the price of the service manual cd is 210$, not 20$
For 20$ you can access the data base for just 1 day, but it does say that you can only read the service manual in adobe reader.
Can I copy all the portions of the manual to my computer with the same 20$?
Thanks, |

You were in the right spot.
The $20 gives you one-day access to view and download approximately 40 pdf files. If you have a decent high-speed connection it does not take that long.
