I also just traded my '04 for an '09 SL, Sapphire, charcoal interior just like my '04. I am a happy driver.

My wife and I were looking at the '09 Murano LE AWD and also at the Toyota Highlander (redesigned for '08.) I have to admit that the new MO is much quieter inside than my '04 MO - maybe quieter tires? But I liked it much more than the '08 Highlander, and it's about $10K cheaper than the Hybrid Highlander, or $4K cheaper than the gas powered Highlander Limited. The Highlander didn't get my immediate approval since it lacks bi-Xenon headlights and seat memory, items I find inexcusably missing from the Highlander for the price point.

Other cars we looked at include the RX350 (too small in the back, particularly headroom and overall width) and Acura MDX (rear seat ingress is difficult with the huge wheel arch, and rear seat kneeroom is much smaller.)

I am teetering between keeping the '04 MO or trading up to the '09. But it looks like the '09 is well executed.

We just replaced our 03 SE w/ an 09 SL on Saturday and love it so far. Interior much nicer - still have to get used to the front grill but am very happy so far. Was surprised at the relatively low trade-in value for the 03 - was in great condition but appears the market is now flooded w/ used MOs because of people like us.

Still smiling after five years of MO ownership.

The 09 still looks like the 1st generation, except the horizontal taillights. I like the distintive vertical lights that are related to the 1st gen MO.

Hand washing is easier with the smooth body panels.

The music box is fun to play with. Many options.

I think its interesting how much thinner the new MO looks in the rear, even though they demensions have not changed.

I do wish they kept the vertical tail lights, but we are contemplating a new one too!

I like the new MO.... I would consider it again if I were buying another... however it bothers me how much it looks like a Hyundai.

Say what happened to the Nissan badges?

I agree.
And yet if you told me they were going from vertical to horizontal lights, I would have expected it to look wider.........
Shows what I know.

Overall it's a better, more refined car than our Gen1s.
But looks?
I'll take the Gen1 anytime.

I think some people just like the stealth look. I think in the old days, it was done so one could not distinguish between a base model and the high end model of a vehicle, but today its pretty much a moot point as the Murano is pretty high end to begin with.

Without the badges, it reminds me of a hyundai. But to each his own.

sawsan - I do too, I know what I drive & its much easier waxing without the lettering!

It's not quite as bad as those darn osha stickers on the visors which no one reads. They trash up the interior so they are gone.

Do you have a trick/technique for removing them without trashing the visors in the process??

I would love to get rid of mine.

As I said, to each his own. If my Mo was an '09, I just wouldn't want to be mistaken for a Hynudai since the rear isn't distinctive like the first generation. I will say my Z is currently de-badged in the rear right now cause my spoiler covers where they were. I may just put the "Z" back on that was part of "350Z".

^^ I'm also curious how you removed the stickers from the visors?
