I have a 2004 Murano, and I have a couple of issues. 1st my biggest problem is the running lights are staying on and I can't turn them off, what could be causing that? That just started yesterday, the weekend of course. Second my bose cd play will not work in the morning, it skips and sometimes just wont play the cd. I am waiting for a part for the seatbelt to come it before taking it in for service. It seems like all of a sudden all kinds of problems are happenning. Hubby is out of town and the shops aren't open today. What can I do with the running lights??

Welcome to the forum.
When you say "running lights" are you referring to the parking lamps or the headlights? If it is the parking lamps, then there may be a problem in the switch. However, if you are referring to the headlights it is very possible you may be covering the day/night sensor located on the forward edge of the dashboard where it meets the windshield. If the sensor is covered the MO assumes it is nighttime and the lights will come on.

When I turn off the car and remove the keys, it normally shuts off. There are no keys in the ignation but the daytime running lights are still on.

It sounds like the relay is stuck in the closed position. It is rare, but it can happen. I will look in the Service Manual and see if I can locate the relay.
Out of curiosity, you say your car has daytime running lights but they are not standard on US-spec MOs. Is this a mod that someone did to the car? If so, the relay can be anywhere and will not show up in the service manual.

If the daytime running lights are OEM, then you can find the relay in the fuse/relay box located under the hood on the passenger-side.
The underside of the lid should have the identity of the relay.

This is a feature that came with the package. I have the premium package. I will go pop the hood and see if I can figure it out. Thank you!

Has your battery been disconnected recently or anything? There is a setting you can have that will keep your lights on for X seconds after you turn off the car. Perhaps it got reset, so you're lights stay on for a while before turning off automatically?
DO they eventually turn off, or do they stay on indefinitely? I think the highest setting for this feature is 60 seconds, so try waiting over a minute and see what happens. |

I am confused. (So what else is new?? ) The daytime running lights are not part of any package on US-spec MOs. So let's start over and look at the obvious...
With the ignition ON, try cycling the headlight switch between the OFF and AUTO settings, ending up in the OFF position. Also move the fog light switch to the OFF position.

I have tried everything, the lights stay on all the time. My hubby finally came home and we ended up having to disconnect the head lights. We disconnected the battery hoping to reset the relay or what ever it is that is causing this and it worked until we started the car, then they came back on again. When you turn the light switch to the park lights, the head lights are suppose to turn off, they don't, they are on all the time. Before we started having problems, as soon as you start the car (lights if the off position), the head lights/ running lights would come on. As soon as you turn off the car, the lights would go off. They are not, they are on all the time. We have an appointment on Wed, so until then, I will have to drive during the day since my head lights have been disconnected, either that or a dead battery.
