Murano locking by itself ! - Click HERE for Original Thread

man, this is really weird but my 2005 Murano just keeps locking by itself. I first noticed it when I heard the horn chirping while I was inside the house. I went out and the locks are just clicking every few seconds. It even locks when you're driving with the key in the ignition! There doesn't seem to be a weather related item and I've disco'd the battery to try to get it to reset but it comes back.

Anyone heard of this one?

thanks

The power lock actuator is the problem I believe. This is because it has a short in it and it keeps an continuous circuit at random times. Correct me if I am wrong. I had this problem in my Montero and the power lock actuator was the problem. I replaced it and now everything is back to normal.

I believe some early Muranos had a wire harness problem which led lock switch problems - it appears that this is not limited to early MOs. You can search TSBs at www.nissanhelp.com to see if there is anything related to your issue.

Thanks I did a quick search and see where some have replaced the harness and/or actuator. Can someone point me to a procedure for it? I'm handy but dont have a service manual.

You can download the entire shop manual in PDF form from www.nissan-techinfo.com for a $20 subscription I believe. It is well worth it.

I believe in K.I.S.S. Let's look at the simple solutions first.

Check out your keyfobs. I would remove their batteries and see if the problem clears up. If so, then you have a defective keyfob. It is possible one of the buttons has collapsed and is closing the circuit.

On the other end of the scale, there could be an issue with the BCM (Body Control Module). You could try disconnecting the battery for a few seconds in an attempt to reset the BCM.

If you can point me to the posts I may be able to post related info from the SM.

Thanks for all your help with this. A TSP talks about corrosion/water getting into the lock actuator or wire harness causing the problem. I dont have the SM to know where these are but may get one on CD from Ebay.
