I had a JVC DVD player in my Element. It was great because I can put so much music on a DVD. I did not have a screen with it. I just used it for music. Is there anyway to get a dvd to play though my stereo speakers I have a S AWD no nav. Can you play dvd audio through the nav unit? Is there fm Modulated DVD player out there. I need my music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what kind of imputs are on the nav unit ?

Can you run an external source through it?

Hello,

No, you cannot run your DVD through
the nav system.

I can play the audio from my factory DVD through the speakers, but I doubt you want to add the factory DVD after the fact - probably not very cheap.

what If I added my head unit and cut the factory speaker wires, and spliced the aftermarket unit speaker wires and power wire so that both units would power on but the sound form factory stereo would not exist. Does this make any sence. Because it sounds like it would be a simple and easy solution.

Don't bother man!:(
I have tried and tried, no good, you are stucked with the factory unit:3:
I looked into the subject for about 2 months, conclosion, you can't change the factory unit.
Try an FM mudilator, not the best sound, but you can play yout MP3's.
I have one, it is OK.

Just buy a PAC NAIS. It will plug in behind your radio and give you two sets of RCA connections to plug in your after market DVD player.

Do you have it instaled on a Mo?
If so, can I see some photos?

I had one of these before I installed the Ipod controller from Nissan. Here's a link to a current sale on EBay:

They hooked up behind the stereo and gave you two auxillary inputs for red and white RCA connections. You accessed the signal by hitting the SAT button on your stereo.

My first generation MO has a first generation PAC-NIS1....!

It works great. The only drawback (and I hear is also the case with the PAC-NIS2) is crosstalk between two aux inputs. But if you just use one input you are good to go. It plugs right into the back of the radio, or if you have the sat wires but no sat, you can connect it to the MO behind the rear seat. That way you don't need to remove the radio at all. This of course requires knowledge of the connector pinouts and a bit of knowledge of electronics, but it can be done.

Did you guys ever have any luck coming up with the spec for the curent in-console DVD player? I'd love to know what the pinout of the connector is that plugs into the Fm modulator so I could just splice into the damn thing and bypass it to use actual wires to the head unit instead of the mudilator (by the way, LOVE that name). I asked the guys at the Nissan Service desk and they tried to find any info in their computers for signal diagrams or any type of diagrams and came up with nothing. Since they don't actually REPAIR them, the just replace them, Nissan probably felt that they didn't need schematics. I wish I could get Clarion to just send me the damn thing.

Regards,
Jeff
