Oh the noises.... - Click HERE for Original Thread

It's like music to my ears.....or not....

I got my Murano back in February, and I love the car. I love the way it looks, the room inside, the smooth powertrain, the features and gizmos, etc....

But I can't stand the noises this thing makes. For a car with 12k on the clock (I bought it as a demo), this thing sure doesn't sound solid going over the road. I don't expect it to be perfect, but from rattles in the back, to tapping in the b-pillars, to a loud sharp thud every time I hit a big bump, to a squeaky brake pedal, to a noisy steering column, there are times when I really get buyer's remorse. And on top of that, I now have a heat shield rattle underneath that I have to have the dealer look at.

I also love loud music, and I'll turn the radio up a lot, but I'm just not happy knowing the sounds that it's masking. My Maxima was a lot quieter, even with 102k on the clock.

I know I've seen other threads about squeaks and rattles, but how do you guys really just let it go?

its part of the charm of owning a nissan, they have always been crucified for there fit and finish... but the owning of a 35vq makes it all worth it in my book... get a toyota if you can't stand the heat!!! :2:

I have an '06 SE AWD and I have only had two rattles. and the dealer took care of them and I have 30,000 miles on mine. They just charge Nissan for the labor. It is one of the quietest cars I have ever had after the fixes. I guess it luck of the Draw. I would take it to the dealer and let them fix IMO. I just told them the source and they took care of it.

Sounds like you are still under warranty, so I would let the dealer handle it - make sure though to take the MO for a drive with a dealer mechanic sitting in the passenger seat and demonstrate all the noises, otherwise you will get the dreaded "could not reproduce" note on your service writeup and the visit will be a waste of time.

Maybe it's just these Jersey roads beating up on my car...

I got a 04 SL - 44K KM on it. I got no unwanted noises. The only thing that I did notice is excesive wind noise coming from the bottom of the winshield. Is this normal??
I did not drive any other MOs to compare as of yet. Maybe you guys can give some advice.
Even my 98 accord has way less interior noise by the winshield.
Other than that, Im an :2: MO owner .

That's no excuse. You have extra rattles and noises that the dealer should fix (if you can get them to admit that they are there).

Many people on here, particularly with the older vehicles (03-04) complained about rattles and squeaks. There were a couple TSBs released to fix them as well (don't think there are any on the 07, but you could check). Some people fixed it themselves, others went to the dealer over and over before it was corrected, and some just lived with it.

Don't let these noises ruin the experience of an otherwise excellent car. Get them fixed one way or another. If you're having problems with your dealer, try a different dealer or maybe an independent shop (of course, you'd have to pay for that).

If you end up going to a different dealer than normal, make sure they know that you were frustrated with the service that you got at the first one. They might put in some extra effort to try to win your future business.
