What's this humming screaching at low speed? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have about 65K on my '04 Murano and it's been bullet-proof up till now.

Just noticed the other day that that there is a noise kind of like screaching, or scraping that occurs at low speeds and either changes or goes completely away when I step on the brakes. Now I know what bad breaks and the change sensors sound like but I don't believe that's where the noise is coming from.

I'm hoping that it isn't somehow coming from the CVT?? I did put the car in neutral and rev and didn't change sound so it's now coming from the engine.

Any suggestions as what this odd noise might be?

I had a screech at a certain rpm in my 04. It was a heat shield.
But if you rev and it stays the same, and it goes away with brake application, it almost sounds like very bad bearings or CV joint...although bearing noise usually comes upon braking.

When coasting down a hill put the car in neutral and shut the engine off.

If the noise doesn't stop, it's not the engine.

Off the top of my head - this one is easy -

Its the brake wear indicators. Your brake pads are getting low.
