Turned over 100k first of the month, so I'm now out of (extended) warranty! Everything is now on my nickle.
Week after I hit 100k, we put 1300 miles on the MO going to Fla and back.
No Godawful problems so far (after the first two months!):
Bought: Oct '03
"Small Evap Leak fix" fried the computer: Nov '03 No loaner while waiting for a new computer to ship. FROM JAPAN!! Guy in service dept (not the mgr) told me he'd check into something. Shipment of vehicles arrived next day and, lo and behold! a computer was on the front seat of the hauler!
Dropped off for alternator recall and asked svc mgr to be sure that the AC still works. Had to stay an extra hour upon pickup because, yes, they knocked out the AC while doing the alt recall.
When I got rear-ended couple of years ago, same dealer charged for 4-wheel alignment that was not done (had to get new CTs about 30k early because of that), and said that the BROKEN driver's seat would adjust so they would not fix it, and put on the plastic snowplow. I had to show the bodyshop that the seat may move, but it did not adjust correctly. They had $tealer order a new seat and installed it themselves. The snoplow got snagged on a raised manhole cover a month later so I removed its remains. Ordered an aluminum shield and installed it myself ($15 plus about 10 min for me to install v. $150 the dealership "charged" Nissan for the snowplow).
After I offered to remove the hidden SAT antenna so the bodyshop wouldn't have to worry about it, they cut the coax and left the antenna lying in the front floor. They ended up buying a new antenna and paying ME $50 to install it. Sheesh.
About a year ago, while picking up a sack o' oil filters, I mentioned that the driver's seat was rocking (another dealer this time!) One of the mechanics took the seat apart and put it back together (under ext warranty) and said it had a few bolts loose. No rocky, no squeaky since then.
Couple of months ago, started seeing a drop or two of oil on the garage floor each morning. Re-sealed the "lower" oil pan and replaced the sending unit. Now it just drips, sometimes, if it sits for a day or two. Example: after drive to Fla, it sat for three days. No drip. Was driven about a mile and parked for two days. Drip. Still can't figure this one out...
All in all, experience hasn't been all that bad, except for Nissan dealers reminding me just how inconsiderate, greedy, and negligent they can be.
Would trade in the MO except:
I like driving it.
Still get about 21.4 MPG in mixed driving (around Charlotte)
It's a nice ride!
Can't see saddling myself with a car loan at this point. I work in IT.
So I'll just hold my breath and keep on chooglin the MO. |
