I was wondering what would be the best PSI per tire for my '09 Murano LE. Should I use the placarded PSI or something different?
Thanks |

| I would use the recommended PSI rating that is stickered on your driver door. |

| I add 5 psi to the recommended and I am quite happy with ride, mpg, and tire wear. My original OEM tires lasted 76k miles with even tire wear and I could probably get another 5K miles out of them. |

| Thanks, I'll bring them up to 35 psi for the mpg. I have have 33 psi in them now. My '08 Honda Accord came with 36 psi and the ride was very harsh. I let out 4 per tire and it rides so much nicer. The placard on the Honda stated 32 psi. |

| What ever you pump them up to; just monitor the wear on the treads to make sure that they are wearing evenly(ie-inside; outside and center). :4: and regular rotations. |

Excellent advice. |

| THe Max PSI listed on my OEM tires is 44. The door jamb placard states 33PSI. When I picked the car up from the dealer the pressure was set to 44PSI. The posters in this thread have all advised that we should set it between 33 and 38PSI. Will setting the pressure significantly below the MAX tire pressure cause any problems? |

| Definately lower your PSI from 44. Go with the door jamb rating and you're good to go. Rotate regularly and keep an eye on uneven wear. |

There is no reason to run MAX pressure. That's just what it is - the MAXIMUM pressure. Use the setting on the door placard, and add a few psi if you like a firmer ride and sharper steering. |

And, keep in mind that the tire pressure should be checked after the car has set still for several hours and out of direct sunlight. I check mine after it's sat in the garage over night. Checking after driving or if it's been heated by the sun will give you a false(higher) reading. Check them when they are 'cold'.

Welcome to the forum!
The maximum pressure rating imprinted on the sidewall is the maximum safe operating pressure for the tire. It is by no means the recommended tire pressure.
The car manufacturer's recommended tire pressure is a compromise between handling and comfort, usually biased toward the cars intended market. A Corvette's tires will be biased towards handling while a Mercury Grand Marquis is biased towards comfort.
I suggest setting the tire pressure to 33 psig. Running at 33 will not cause any problems.

| Thank you for your help, everybody. I've adjusted the pressure to 35 psi all around. |
