That could be a good deal, or it may be just an average deal. The only way to tell is to compare it to other dealers in the area and see what others have purchased for. There are going to be differences based on your geographic area of the country.

Check out the perputal price thread and see what others are buying for.

Talk out the door figures ONLY!! never negotiate before tax numbers unless you know what you're talking about. Here is what i do, and have been pretty successful for the past couple vehicle purchases. I've bought many cars for friends and etc.. nissan quest x 2, 07 GTI, 07 TL. I love to negotiate. NEW CARS is the BEST way to do it.
go to www.carsdirect.com. price out your options, and take the carsdirect price (exclude destination charges, its not your problem unless you are ordering. when dealer orders BULK, he doesn't pay that much!) anyway, carsdirect.com price and go up couple hunderd and negotiate that price OUT THE DOOR (w/ all taxes/ fees included) i.e. Carsdirect.com price #36,435. You can get that car for $36,700, $37k MAX out the door! NEVER be wishy washy on price. SET YOUR PRICE, and if dealer doesn't accept or "laugh" WALK AWAY politely and say thank you for your time. its a reasonable offer and dealer will follow you and will try to get you to stay. trust me! lets say you offer 36,800 and dealer comes closer to your price like 37,300 or 37,500 negotiate the 37,000 and say i'll meet your offer. 99% you will have a deal! this advice is FREEE!! :)

Well, In Oregon we don't have sales tax. I bought an 08 Lexus RX350 in January for my wife. The dealer quoted me "Costco" deal $39209 and that's what I paid, plus DMV fees of about 125 bucks.

wow, its worth it to get a southwest ticket and buy a car there and pay the $fee for shipping.. would still be cheaper than tax on a $25k + vehicle.. hmm..

I got my murano in IL, for $37k OUT THE DOOR w/ all taxes and fees. Sticker on the car was $39,200... pure negotiation.

Might want to reconsider. When you try to license the vehicle in your own state, they will most likely force you to pay taxes at that point. That's how they stop us up here in Seattle from going down to Portland. Sure, we don't pay when we get the car, but when it comes to registering and licensing it here in Washington, all of a sudden you have a HUGE bill!

I think that is the norm. You pay sales taxes in the state the vehicle is registered in. I bought my Murano in Virginia but live in Maryland. Beginning this year Maryland deducts the trade in value of the vehicle being traded in from the total cost of the new vehicle. That was a nice surprise.
